Echoes Staff, would like to dedicate this l959 annual t Les served on the board of trustees of Fall River Union High School for one term, prior to Unification. For several years he was leader of the Soldier Mountain 4-H Club. He held the office of Master of the McArthur Grange for two years, having been an ac- tive member since the organization of the Grange in 1926. Les acted as one of the first fair managers of the Intermountain Fair before the job became a permanent and paying one. He was past Chairman of the Fall River Valley Chamber of Commerce. He origi- nated the McArthur Christmas tree and accomplished much as president of the McArthur Businessmen's Organization. Les helped the Fall River High School Driver Training pro- gram to get its start by donating the use of the first driver training car, and has replaced it with a new model annually. He was a member of the McArthur Volunteer Fire Depart- ment and was always ready to go. He served as De t pu y Coroner for many years and went beyond the call of duty to help people in many cases. The community will miss Les and think of him often in the future. .fevliaouiuv 3Qeey6b36qoo'od in qi? Ad,ministration and faculty 6 2 .. Graduates M - .x.. MESSINGER Mr. Bunntv EAST Bunnsv The late Charles E. Rugh, Professor of Education at the University of California, defined education as follows: Education is the total process and procedure of reciprocating life responses by which institutions, civilization, and personality are achieved. Thus interpreted, education begins at least at birth and continues throughout life. Education takes place only when one interacts with his environment. One's true environment consists of all those persons and things with which one comes in contact and to which one responds. Schooling is a very important part of the whole process of education. It is hoped sincerely that the total experiences, thus far, for you have been of such quality that they have contributed greatly toward the development of an impelling desire on your part to contribute to the improvement of our institutions and our civilization, and of your person- ality. You have had rich experiences in school involving relationships with other students, with teachers and administrators, and with parents, other relatives, and other friends, who are all intensely interested in providing for you the best educational experiences possible. Because of these experiences, you should be more able to take your places as contributing members in our institutions such as the home, the family, the Church, the state, the nation, and the world. The total experiences you have had throughout your school years should help you to make great contributions to the civilization of the world. Personality is sometimes thought of as the resultant of the sum total of learnings to date plus inherited tendencies and characteristics. The parents, teachers, and others responsible for guiding your growth and development throughout the first eighteen years of your lives have attempted ardently to help you to develop your personalities to the utmost in the right direction. The best wishes of all of us go with you as you further develop your potentialities through continuous study and worthwhile experiences in the golden years that are yours. Very cordially yours, cQ A District Superintendent 7 ,if L 1 . N., '1 'S iiiiii S' a i 11 ' 11 l O O ...-....-' 0..-- U I 4 ry T it C' D 4 wlkaaaye The time has come for the parting of the ways. Many of you will maintain Contact with each other throughout your lives, but for many others, this year will mark the end of what we hope has been a time of companionship in a common goal - - that of self improvement. You will perhaps realize in the future that many of the values that your school has tried to impart are becoming increasingly more important. This is a sign of maturity and an indication that you are becoming ready to assume your positions of leadership. Congratulations to you Seniors, and for those underclassmen returning, we give the responsibility for providing the leadership so vital to a Student Body. It has been a privilege to be your Principal during the past year and share with you some of the excitement of High School life. Each person Went from this school to set the world on fire. Now in 1969 the class reunion. The center of attraction at this moment seems to be THERESA ANSOTEGUI. The girl's middle name is SUCCESS. She won a one-way ticket to Iapan in 1959. MISS TAMALE PIE of 1969. Congratulating TREAT is FRANKIE AVERY. FRANKIE never left Burney. She is a guest of the Burney Nut House. The poor thing swears up and down she invented the light-bulb. Goodness! ! Doesn't she know it was George Washington. Also congratulating TREAT is JOYCE RITTER. Ioyce was mayor of Burney in 1961, and was asked to lay a cornerstone for the new library. Well she got so carried away, she built the whole building before anyone could stop her. MELVIN CRUM can't be seen from here, but he has spent the whole reunion up in the attic swinging from rafter to rafter. MELVIN is a licensed Monkey Tamer. Over there near the window, that guy who just broke out of the straight jacket, spiking the punch is NORMAN LEE. NORMAN is Ex President of ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS. Holding NORMAN is ALICE BREWSTER, now a Nun in Hawaii. She also writes jokes and works weekends as a bartender. Under the refreshment table wearing the plaid cap and carrying the spyglass is HOWARD CHRISTIAN. He took Sherlock Holm's branch office in Greenwich Village. He used it for his headquarters because there has been an unusual amount of mysterious accidents happening in a nearby convent. Hiding behind the curtain over there is TONI BARKUS. She is a Nun in Greenwich Village. Poor thing, her luck seems to be lagging. She lost both big toes in a gun fight just recently. The big muscular man hanging over the hat rack is CORKY MEINBURG. He is a big important world diplomat. It took awhile for the people in the foreign countries to get used to being addressed as SNAKE, otherwise he has no trouble at all with his career. Wandering around saying Little Bo Peep Has Lost Her Sheep, is FLOYD SUMMERS ...... he's a sheepherder and is lost. Now there's a fine girl who is going places! I would never guessed she would rise to such heights! Of course I'm talking about LYNN WELDER. She has finally found her place in life -------- scrub woman at Fall River High. That's PAT JACKSON jumping up and down on the piano. She is a ballet dancer. PAT was taught the art of ballet by that Artist, WES MURER. WES used to be a professional ballet dancer, but now teaches because during a performance for the Queen he stepped on his neck and broke it. The girl who just walked in wearing a bathing suit and swim fins is MARGARET IRWIN. Her husband is out of work so she has turned to deep sea diving, the only thing she knows. BENNY BROWN has been chasing CAROLYN MAHUGH around for ten years and the only reason they'll give us is, CAROLYN built a still on Moonshine Hill and Benny is from the department of revenue. Don't look now, but that's GEORGIA GURR stuffing money into everybodys pocket. She is a counter- feiter. That breeze coming from the other side of the room is none other than BURL BARNES. BURL went to China and came back an accomplished fan dancer. Also stirring up quite a breeze is KENNY BEYSHAU. He is president of the Burney Operatic Society. Rumor has it that the only reason he took it is because they hold their meetings in the Burney pool hall. Who's that girl looking down everyone's throat ? Let's take a closer look at that badge. Why it says, KATHY TYRELL, H. D. KHorse Doctorj. The girl who is demolishing the scales with the axe is IEANNIE SELL. IEAN is a dietitian in Burney. The man at the punch bowl examining NORMAN LEE'S head is II. LEROY GROVE, brain specialist at Napa. LEROY says it is the best job he has ever had. They treat him just like a guest. The guy in the dark glasses eating the goldfish is BILL HALL. He was discovered by Walt Disney who was looking for a star for his next movie Fish Head. BILL LAKEY has fulfilled his life long ambition ---- to be a preacher. Talking business over there is IIM HAMILTON and IOE SHEPPARD. IIM has his own trained pig circus, and Ioe is owner of a flea circus. They're thinking about going into a partnership. That beady eyed girl just coming in the door is IOHNNIE TURNER. IOHNNIE got her Mrs. Degree, there was a shortage of jobs in Burney and now she has turned to cattle rustling. The guy who just drove into the wall with his car is DICK WRIGHT. He is with the Highway Patrol. The glassy eyed girl with a twitching nose is LUCILLE MOULTON. LUCILLE always wanted to be a nurse, but is truly happy with her career as a rabbit breeder. That is REX MCCLUNG wearing the trenchcoat. He works for the underworld, Ccommonly known as the sewerj. The girl with the beans in her pockets is ROSE WILSON. ROSE is a professional bean shooter maker. The little guy with the big mustache and the sheet wrapped around-him and running around in circles is MILT MCLELLAN. He's a sheik. With a huge club in her hand, running from one group of people to another cnating, LEROY, LEROY, is MURIEL CRUM. She is a Psychiatrist at Napa. just recently she wrote a best seller, LIFE WITH LEROY. Needless to say LEROY is her husband. Be careful peace lovers! That was GLORY GLORIA BLAY who just ran around the corner. As you must have guessed, she is a gun slinger. GLORIA got her start when she was watching Wells Fargo on TV and shot poor old jim Hardy up one side and down the other. BOB TIETZ always wanted to be a seamstress, but now is a tax collector. The girl with the steering wheel in her hand is BONNIE NOBLE. She drives a Burney Pusher. The girl in the middle of the room who is gabbing is CARRIE HENDRIX. She also is a great make-up artist. She runs from one big important movie to another. She also publishes Alice's jokes. JIM SLOAN has acquired, with tactics of his own, a string of bars. He's losing his money though, with his old classmates, because they keep drinking up the profit. DAVE ZOLLER has fulfilled his dearest dreams. To be girls' P. E. Teacher. Do you remember last year when Coach Santos won the presidential election ? Well, the brains behind all this belonged to DIANA MACKEN. She also works part-time as a shoeshine girl. CLAYTON OILAR is a dramatic actor. He travels everywhere acting. He can only do one movie though. It's THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER. The reason he only does that play is because it's the only thing he's ever been able to memorize. The girl sitting on the piano keys is PATSY ALLEN. She is a torch singer. MARY SPALDING always wanted to invent another Univac but she ended up a pine cone painter. That's CLAUDIA PYLES sitting in front of the fire with the pipe in her mouth. CLAUDIA is a genius. Why there is SHARON BARTRAM! She is dean of an exclusive boys' school you know. We didn't think she would make it here today because she was sick with the measles, chicken- pox, mumps, and athlete's feet. DENNIS GAYLORD went to school for six years to learn about soil, and now he is a grave digger. IOAN HILLIARD got sick and tired of inventing new per- fumes, so she turned to garbage collecting. Here is KAREN HILLMAN. My! That girl is cer- tainly unpredicatable. She is a bubble dancer in Las Vegas. There is MARLENE DOLLARHIDE, the world's greatest tight-rope walker. She just lost a bet that she could walk a straight line. WILLIE SEVERSON runs the projector at school, and is Santa Claus every Christmas. BUD KNOCH is living off of money he made as a race car driver. He quit business last year because he was in a wreck and broke both ears. CHERYL LACK, who for five years was President of The Happy Loan Co. is now a confirmed drug addict. Running around the corner, we see Barbara Sloan, who is a writer for Mad Comics. She tells us she is finding many good stories at this reunion. Running around with the tape measure around her neck is LINDA RICHWINE, she's a Diaper Designer. We didn't know if TOM BONHAM was going to get here or not, but here he is. Two years after he graduated he was principal of Fall River High, now he is back to weaving bas- kets. That's JIM WATSON crawling around with his nose to the floor, he is a bug exterminator. BONNIE ROBINSON used to hate snakes, but she now has a scar from her left eyebrow to her right elbow, Kfrom pet HOMER the rattle snakej. LINDA GUERINO is a Rodeo Bareback Rider. I can't tell you how many times we've tried to get her to wear a shirt but she just won't do it. Norman Meeker owns McArthur, it is him we THANK for this reunion.
