THE BOARD OF EDUCATION The Board of Education, in terms of this year's nautical theme, may be said to be the 'big wheel' which keeps our school system running smoothly. Each civic-minded, elected member might be compared to a 'spoke' in this wheel. Although the import- ance of each spoke to the whole wheel is apparent, its work is often overlooked in speaking collectively of 'the board' Each member gives his valuable time and energy to provide us with a good, efficient educational program. To the Board belongs the task of formulating the policies on which our school system is based, maintaining a faculty, approving the budget, and numerous other duties which go into the making of an effective school system. The only compensation that these hard-working men and women ever get for their services is the satisfaction of seeing us, the students, making the best of the opportunities which they provide, both now and in the future as good citizens. -ex as ,as 3-54 2' We ,gtg sgffigig MW 1 .
