In V , During Homecoming, Glenda Pewitt cheers as the teams corne on the floor for their introduction. WM 944 Perky, active, willing to work, able to get along with people, and possessing an n e v er - end ing ener- gy. 'I'hat's a cheerleader. A cheerleader's life starts by being elected by the student body and approved by the faculty. This type of election is rnost important to a cheerleader as her suc- cess depends on the co-operation of these people. During the summer, the cheerleader attends a workshop at which she learns the latest in cheering tech- niques and cheers. Then to put the finishing touches to the routines, she practices during the fourth period each 106 .,: Y ,,5,f Captain, Barbara Mangrum really puts her heart into every cheer she does. Her leadership was helpful throughout the year. ? day at school. After these hours of hard work, she is ready for her performances at each of the basketball and football games. To aid the student body in learning the new cheers, she must help conduct the pep-rallies. She also uses this time to boost the school spirit which makes the stu- dents participate in the cheers at the games. At the season's end, the cheerleader, exhausted and hopefully re-elected, is ready for a brief rest before practice begins again.
