L I-Iillious Sullivan, President of Student Council, RHS fi dy Sunfftfawt Aiw a The result of two years of work and effort came on Tuesday, November 29, 1966, in Miami Beach, Florida, when it was announced that Fairview High School had been elected to membership in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The continuing goal of every secondary school in the South is to be a member of this organization, one of the six regional association which accredit the schools and colleges of the United States and American schools abroad. Founded in 1895, its territory embraces the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisinia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Prior to becoming a member of SACS, there were several steps that had to be taken: 1. A self-study and evaluation was conducted by the faculty and students. 2. On May 3,4,5, 1966, a committee of fifteen of Middle Tennessee's top educators visited the school and rendered their evaluation. 3. On October 15, 1966, applications for admission was submitted to the Tennessee office of SACS. 4. It was necessary that the school meet ALL minimum requirements of the State of Tennessee - Board of Education and the SACS. All in all, this is one of the greatest achievements in the history of Fairview High. The faculty and students of 1966 -67 hope that the school will strive always to maintain expresses his best Wishes IO Mr' Lekune and Mr' Wall the excellence required to continue membership in the lace for the whole student body. Mr. Wallace is show- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. ing his eagerness,to leave by getting into the car. At the Nashville airport, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Leleune board their plane for the trip to Florida. ., .. aww ,
