The continuing goal of every secondary school in the South is to be a member of this organization, one of the six regional association which accredit the schools and colleges of the United States and American schools abroad. Founded in 1895, its territory embraces the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisinia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia. Prior to becoming a member of SACS, there were several steps that had to be taken: 1. A self-study and evaluation was conducted by the faculty and students. 2. On May 3,4,5, 1966, a committee of fifteen of Middle Tennessee's top educators visited the school and rendered their evaluation. 3. On October 15, 1966, applications for admission was submitted to the Tennessee office of SACS. 4. It was necessary that the school meet ALL minimum requirements of the State of Tennessee - Board of Education and the SACS. All in all, this is one of the greatest achievements in the history of Fairview High. The faculty and students of 1966 -67 hope that the school will strive always to maintain expresses his best Wishes IO Mr' Lekune and Mr' Wall the excellence required to continue membership in the lace for the whole student body. Football which is a team sport made up of eleven men on a team was well received by the community and the students. This sport provides many great opportunities to build the players character as well as their bodies. During their first season, they did not win very many games, but they gained very valuable experience This will greatly help to make a better team next sea- son. 88' Fairview Fairview Fairview Fairview Fairview Fairview Fairview SEASON 'S RECORD 7 Mt. They won 3 tournaments champion- ships. The Fairview Invitational, the Williamson County, and the 22nd District. This fine record is made possible by their willingness to put forth every possible effort. That type of desire brings victories. The girls this year played with such hustle, such determination, such fight that they were champions even in defeat. One of the marks of a champion is the ability to be defeated and to learn that the failure is not the end of the work but the opportunity to learn and to stand again. Each of the eleven girls contributed so very much to the team. We were glad for all of them. All of them showed feeling, loyalty and teamwork. This was a year of individual awards as well as team awards. Diane Jenkins, Geraldine Jones, Velma Ivey, Marsha Thompson, and Gail Stinson received numerous county awards. Diane Jenkins, Marsha Thompson, and Gail Stinson re- ceived 22nd district awards. Diane Jenkins was selected for the Region 6 Team. Diane Jenkins, in finishing her basketball career set a game record of 43 points, a season record of 748 points and a career record of 2137 points. Next year's team and next year's individual have real goals to strive for. They believe they can do it. Marsha Hughes and Glenna Watts are getting ready to grab the rebound after the foul shot. Seam! A cheerleader's life starts by being elected by the student body and approved by the faculty. This type of election is rnost important to a cheerleader as her suc- cess depends on the co-operation of these people. During the summer, the cheerleader attends a workshop at which she learns the latest in cheering tech- niques and cheers. Then to put the finishing touches to the routines, she practices during the fourth period each 106 .,: Y ,,5,f Captain, Barbara Mangrum really puts her heart into every cheer she does. Her leadership was helpful throughout the year. ? day at school. After these hours of hard work, she is ready for her performances at each of the basketball and football games. To aid the student body in learning the new cheers, she must help conduct the pep-rallies. She also uses this time to boost the school spirit which makes the stu- dents participate in the cheers at the games. At the season's end, the cheerleader, exhausted and hopefully re-elected, is ready for a brief rest before practice begins again. Spam at fiction!
