Language Club — Forked Tongued The Foreign Language Society started the year out with a surprise party for the foreign exchange stu¬ dents. Bob, Doris, Stu, Isabel, and Melida. We got to know them bet¬ ter and even the Ouija board got into the act of predicting everyone’s futures . The Christmas season brought out the FLS Carolers - we learned some of the carols in Spanish , French , and German. The rest were in Eng¬ lish. A little snow is great for caro¬ lers , and their spirit , but this year it closed school , and we are waiting for next Christmas. How about some Mexican folk- dances? You say you have two left feet - so do some of us , but we tried anyway, and we were great. After 1 1 2 hrs. of Mexican dances, some of the more hardy dancers tried the Charleston and our latest dances. Snails! Not me! Well a few gour¬ mets tried them Foreign Foods Night. Adios and Au revoirs were wished between groans and gurgles. All the Alka-Seltzer was used. Spring-time brought a roadside clean-up contest between NHS and the FLS. The outcome - a cleaner, neater, countryside. The final meeting featured several foreign exchange students and their ideas about the US, and final Bon Voyage wish to our For¬ eign Exchange Students ! N.H.Q. — Brains of F.V.! Better glad than mad . You've Got a Friend! The National Honor Society has been very active this year. In October, there was a formal and infor¬ mal initiation with 15 new members being accepted into the organization. Instead of the N.H.S. mem¬ bers exchanging Christmas gifts among themselves, fruit baskets were made and distributed to many eld¬ erly people in our area. A family in Farmer had a fire which destroyed their possessions, so the N.H.S. members donated canned foods to present to the family. The final project was a trash pickup day. The members joined forces one Monday morning when school wasn't in session, and collected litter from many miles of roads. Two trucks were filled. To end the year, the N.H.S. had a banquet and elected the officers for the 1974-75 school year.
