Bruce Martin, a solo actor, presented poetry in such an interesting fashion that even non¬ poetry lovers enjoyed his act. I Dreamed a World, ” Mother and Son, and Amen were a few of the poems. The Defiance County Sheriff’s Department introduced L.B. , a German police dog especially trained to detect marijuana. Different packets of marijuana, placed around the gym were uncovered by L.B. as he demonstrated his abili¬ ties. Also, the Bowling Green State University Stage Band, under the direc¬ tion of Mr. David Miller, played modern jazz before the student body. You've Got a Friend! The National Honor Society has been very active this year. In October, there was a formal and infor¬ mal initiation with 15 new members being accepted into the organization. Instead of the N.H.S. mem¬ bers exchanging Christmas gifts among themselves, fruit baskets were made and distributed to many eld¬ erly people in our area. A family in Farmer had a fire which destroyed their possessions, so the N.H.S. members donated canned foods to present to the family. The final project was a trash pickup day. The members joined forces one Monday morning when school wasn't in session, and collected litter from many miles of roads. Two trucks were filled. To end the year, the N.H.S. had a banquet and elected the officers for the 1974-75 school year. F.F.A. Earning to Live: 1st ROW, L-R: D. Schooley, W. Plummer, T. Winright, J. Breckler, K. Ward, A. They started out the year with a pot-luck dinner and formal initiation of new members with their mothers attending. As fund raising pro¬ jects, the chapter sold Tom Watt in the months of October and November. This money is used for state convention and field trips. The Chapter’s in-depth project is involving FHA members with senior citizens. Members were divided into groups to visit the Fountain Manor Nursing Home throughout the year and each member adopted a resident of the home to send gifts and cards; and to visit them. FHA involved many people by having fun, exciting and yet educational meetings. A Halloween party where everyone came dressed in a disguise proved eventful and different. The Children's Home was the center of a meeting that the fathers attended while a movie on self-defense entertained at another monthly meeting . The Archbold Radio Station hosted Fairview FHA in a radio-TV program. This summer Fairview will construct the annual booth at the Defiance Co. Fair. FHA provides many different types of fun and yet educates you in many areas. Being a member means you’ve helped to make someone’s life a little brighter. Being an FHAer means not only talking about being involved . . . You are involved . Officers Advisors Officers: L-R: S. Rosebrook, News Reporter; L. Miller, V. President; P. Putting together the 1974 Warrior was a challenge to even the experienced members on this year’s staff. Besides completing the usual task of coming up with creative layouts, Fairview’s journalists have added eight pages of color to the Warrior and increased the size of the pages from 7 3 4 by 10 1 2 to 8 1 2 by 11 . It took hours of work and a great deal of patience to produce over 150 pages that pleased Mr. Rupp, but the job was finally completed. Although many headaches went into the making of the Warrior, it was also a lot of fun and proved to be very worthwhile. We hope that our efforts were success¬ ful and you are pleased with this year's yearbook. Many members of the staff will be returning next year to make the 1975 Warrior even better. Each of the twenty members of the War Whoop staff learned what frustration was this year when Tuesday morning deadlines p°n!!nia[!Inplr rl WatS alwayS a )?assle on Monday evenings with everyone trying to get their page done. It seems there were never enough typewriters to go around and even when you did manage to come up with one it wasn't good enough because you didn’t know how to type . Then there were the glue bottles that were always empty and the blank minds that could never come up with suitable captions and headlines. It was quite a hassle every time another issue was due, but we all survived to publish nine XpwSwh lssu®s ? lhe ar hooP- Despite the frustrations, we did learn a great deal about writing and layouts. Majorette the Clock Tonight Band's Talent and Versatility Makes Success!!! The year of 1973-74 was the best year yet for the Apache Band. The season was opened by a trip to Windsor, Canada. The band marched in the annual Freedom Festival Parade” and competed in drills. The band also made its first appearance in the Toledo American Legion Parade. An excellent county fair show was the harbinger for the Superior halftime shows which were performed at all football games in the fall . As the marching segment of band progressed, the group traveled to Defiance to participate in the second annual Defiance Spectacular, with guest clinician Bill Moffett. The first performance for the concert band was the Christmas concert, followed by an exchange concert with Tinora. Another first was when the Pep Band, twice, ventured to Defiance College to provide basketball halftime entertainment. Next on the schedule was solo and ensemble contest which was followed by Concert Band contest. The 1973-74 year was concluded with the band playing at local towns for Memorial Day services. Fairview Follies, ” our own original production, was the chorus's first main project in the fall. Afterwards, everyone practiced for a Thanksgiving assembly and our Christmas Concert. After vacation, many members prepared for solo and ensemble contest at BGSU. One of our own ensembles, the Swing Choir, made its first appearance this year. All 24 members sang for gatherings such as the Methodist Churchmen's Banquet, Christmas Services, Williams Center mother and daughter banquet, and the Mark Center Alumni Banquet, along with contest and concerts. District competition was held at Maumee this year, where the Mixed Chorus and the Girl's Glee received superior ratings and advanced to state competition at Bowling Green in April. The Boy's Chorus also received an excellent rating at con¬ test. Immediately after state contest, the entire chorus sang at the Presbyterian Church in Bryan for Sunday morning services. The presentation was broadcast over WBNO in Bryan. The Chorus finished their year's activities with an exciting spring concert in May. Their final appearance was at com¬ mencement on May 26. Many girls worked hard and became good saleswomen in their efforts toward our main project - selling FV pennants. To close the year, the GAA sponsored a bike hike and also a regular hike to Ney for the annual awards day and picnic. Managers: Lu Burns and Lissa Moats. 79 Volleyball 1st ROW: D. Butler, S. Showing the Spirit of Winning and Showing the Sportsmanship of Defeat The young and inexperienced Apache footoall squad suffered a rough season with a record of three wins and six losses. The team started the year out with a loss to Edon , and came back to defeat Antwerp and their Home¬ coming rival the Edgerton Bulldogs. They lost the next four and then beat Hilltop , before being knocked down by Bryan on Parent's Night. The Apaches ended the season with a 3-2 league record , placing them third in the Northwest Buckeye League . Though the season proved to be dish¬ eartening , the experience that the gridders gained should bring more hope to next year's squad with a possible eighteen returning lettermen . 84 Coaches: KNEELING: Coach Strazuiso, and Whalen. G o I f Rookie seasons often prove to be unfruitful , which can be attributed to the number one for on the links - inexperience. The Apache linksmen failed to win a match all season even though there were several outstanding individual performances. The golfers, led by only one upperclassman and composed of many talented Frosh and Sophomores, have the future seasons of experience and success in front of them. Three of these team members were girls who showed marked improvement during the trials of our first season.
