Concert Band The Fairview Band program for the school year 1972-73 was capped off by numerous series of events. First the Fairview Band was invited again to take part in the Canadian Freedom Festival but this time in the capacity of a host band. They performed as the entertainment band along the banks of the Detroit River, next they participated in the parade itself the next day, and last, they performed a half time show. On August 21, the Apache Band arrived at the county fair and put on an outstanding routine to the tune Music, Music, Music . After that, the band entered the football scene where they per¬ formed at all the ball games. Also during this season the band traveled to the Defiance Spectac¬ ular where they competed against bands from the area and state (including Bowling Green University Band.) Fairview was the smallest in size but the largest in heart and thus put on an excellent show. The marching Apache Band had now reached the ultimate by attending the Chicago Christmas Parade on December 9. They were the only marching unit to be selected for the parade froin . Ohio. Eleven state ' s in all were represented. This, indeed, became the highlight of their success. On the concert side of things, the band performed at Christmas, at contest and in the spring. The stage band also came into rare form by participating at the Montpelier, Ayersville, and Tinora proms. This year’s pep band has been the best ever produced at Fairview. The enthusiasm has been overwhelming at the basketball games. To sum it up, it has been a very, very good year! - Mr. Herroon 68
