Many years of dedication were in their teaching careers. Now as they retire from teaching, we, the staff, would like to pay them one last small tribute. FAIRVIEW SALUTES TWO MR. DALE SANDER Geography, W. History, Econ. and Sociology. Mr. Sander graduated from high school at Madrid, Iowa. He attended Palmer Jr. College at Albany, Missouri. He taught for two years at Hopkins, Missouri. For the next two years, he attended Drake University at Des Moines, Iowa. Mr. Sander enrolled at Elon College in North Carolina where he served as student football coach. He then taught at Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It was at this time Mr. Sander decided to go into the ministry. He then served three years in a church in Reedville, North Carolina. In 1936, Mr. Sander was appointed as principal at the Washington Twp. School in Ney. He served in this position until 1958. In 1958 Mr. Sander was appointed as assistant superintendent and guidance counselor at Fairview Hi gh School. In 1968 Mr. Sander requested to return to full time teaching and turned the guidance responsibilities over to Mr. Mountz. Mr. Sanders comments were: “The greatest rewards in teaching are realized when a teacher becomes aware of the achievements of his former students, Youth has been a part of our lives and it has been a joy to watch them grow. I will miss the associations with the student body and the many activities of the school program. I will ever be grateful to the fine relationship with both the administration and faculty which has made working in the system a very pleasant experience. As for the future, I have many hobbies and I am not concerned about having too much time on my hands.” 4
