F.V. VARSITY BASEBALL FRONT ROW, Left to Right: John Gray, Les Chafin, Doug Morrison, Joe Phillips, Bob Suffel, John Jacob, Scott Sanders, Dave Ross, (Mgr.) Tim Bashor. SECOND ROW, Left to Right: Coach Sprow, Greg Brenner, Brad Peter, Bruce Berenyi, Scott Hemenway, Don Baker, Steve Roberts, Chad Peter, Brent Maugel, Jim Guilford, Coach Peters. The baseball team did not have the winning season that was expected of them as they finished with a 12-15 record. They were also unsuccessful in defending the Green Meadows conference championship. Their con¬ ference record was 4-3 which placed them fourth in the final standings. Even though the team did not enjoy much success, several players improved their individual play from last year. Scott Hemenway and Bruce Berenyi were the lead¬ ing hitters with averages of .393 and .382 respectively. Hemenway led in runs batted in with 26, and Steve Roberts led in stolen bases with 10. Hemenway’s fol¬ lowing by Les Chafin with 2.33. This year’s reserve baseball team showed plenty of hitting power as they averaged eight runs per contest. Their record of three wins and six losses could have been much better with fewer errors in the field and more consistent pitching. Sophomore Doug Morrison led the hitters with a .400 average while Freshman Joe Jerger led in runs-batted-in with eleven. F.V. COACHES j0 Coach Sprow, Coach Peters. 101
