I On The Run ■ Morrison, Jerry Bergman, Scott Kam- meyer, Bruce Berenyi, Don Baker, Leo Shininger, Steve Jerger, Steve Sims, Chuck Smith. The Cross-Country team consisted of four seniors and 13 underclassmen. The team finished third in the Green Meadows conference, one half point out of second place. Five of the top seven runners were underclassmen, leaving a strong nucleus for next year. Cross-Country is a grueling sport. It takes an athlete with courage, determination, endurance, and the will to win to be successful in this sport. Their season record was 16 wins and 8 losses. Jerry Bergman was the leading runner with a total of 95 points followed closely by Bob Suffel with 93 points. Rounding out the remainder of the top seven runners are Bruce Berenyi, 72 pts.; Larry Mor¬ rison, 63 pts.; Ste ve Sims, 61 pts.; Ken Sailer, 53 pts.; and Greg Brenner, 40 pts. Other members of the team were Jim Guilford, Tom Bashor, Scott Kammeyer, Scott Sanders, Chuck Smith, Paul Baer- lin, Don Baker, Leo Shininger, Eddie Singer, and Steve Jerger.

Led by seniors Jim Knisely, Tim Schlosser, and underclassmen Russ Motter, John Jacob, Bob Suffel, Paul Baerlin, and Pat Stuckey, the Apaches compiled the greatest single season record ever by a Fair- view wrestling team with an 11-1 record. They came in second out of four teams at the Napoleon Holiday Tourna¬ ment with Jim Knisely and Tim Schlosser winning first place medals. The Apaches came in sixth out of seventeen schools at the sectional tournament held at Defiance. Bob Suffel took a 2nd and John Jacob and Paul Baerlin took 3rd ' s. These fine young men went on to Toledo to represent Fairview in the District Tournament. There will be no material rewards, such as a league trophy, for the efforts put forth by this outstanding group of young men because Fairview’s wrestling team is in no league. We hope these young men have gained something better than a trophy. There has to be a warm glow of inner satisfaction and pride in each one of them knowing that he helped a team accomplish great feats. Best-win-loss record - John Jacob Most Improved - John Jacob First recipient of the Randy Higley memorial award signifying the most valuable wrestler as voted by his teammates - Jim Knisely.
