Action On i i Apaches Win Runners-Up Trophy Fa irview completed its first varsity football season and left a warn¬ ing for other teams to watch for ambushes from here on in. Fairview finished second in the Northwest Buckeye League, tying league champs Hicksville 28-28, and beating pre-season co-favored Payne 26-0, on Parent’s Day. The Apaches had a N. W. B. C. mark of 2-1-1, and com¬ piled an overall record of 5-3-1. Statistic wise the Apaches improved tremendously from last year ' s team. Fairview averaged 22. 2 points a game with an offense that aver¬ aged 293 yards per game and limited their opponents to 15.2 points per game. Six Apaches received honors in the All-N. W. B. C. selections. Mick Ester, Gerald Hanna, only a sophomore, Bruce Mosier, Steve Roberts, Tim Schlosser, and Pat Stuckey were selected for first team. Tim Schlosser also received honors for Honorable Mention All-State Defensive Tackle. The following players received awards at the Boosters Annual All- Sports Banquet held April 18th. Most Valuable Player - Bruce Mosier Top Offensive Back - Tom Hubbard Top Offensive Lineman - Gerald Hanna Top Defensive Back - Mick Ester Top Defensive Lineman - Pat Stuckey Most Improved Player - Ed Schlosser Our First Homecoming Victory! The Apaches delighted 1800 Homecoming fans as Gerald Hanna, Jim Knisely, Andy Shininger and Ed Schlosser tore gaping holes in the Vikings line to enable Mike Bashor, Aaron Hanna and Tom Hubbard to ramble for 230 yards. Bruce Mosier caught 6 passes for 66 yards. The Apaches de¬ fense held the Vikings to 56 yards rushing, 26 in the second half. Ester, Stuckey, Hanna and Mosier mounted the defensive assault on the Vikings. Apaches Future Rosy Fairview wins the runners-up trophy from 2nd place in the N. W. B. C. The Apaches gained only one shut out of t he year with a great defensive display on a rain soaked Saturday afternoon. This closed the Apaches Football season with a 5-3-1 record with Fairview ' s future looking bright. Peter, Hubbard, Schlosser, English, Hanna, Shininger, Mosier and the rest of the Apaches Defense had its silent hour. Boger, English, Ester, Hanna, Knisely, Rath, Schlosser, and Winnie played their last football game for Fairview. r
