A new superintindent, an old friend, an assassination attempt on President Regan and the Pope, the ever-changing weather, and the ever-present task of homework each helped to mold portions of the life of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and faculty during the months of August until May. The next 140 pages of photography, copy, and captions are here to spark memories, smiles, and maybe a few tears. (Matting Closer to— What Counts in-. student Life From August until May, 257 students participated in watermelon feed, homecoming, Sadie Hawkins, stock shows, sports, band, and graduation. Atlanta had 26 children murdered, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas burned, and Colonel Sanders died. The hostages came home, jokes were told on field trips, Debbie Nickel and Luke Howard cried when dreams of state championships ended. Everyone griped and paid $1.30 for gas, $3 for a movie and $8 for pizza. But each event — happy or sad — brought each student closer to what counts. SOCK HOPPERS.
