o longer macho For a long time industrial arts has been a department dominated by the male sex. Today these classes are in- creasing in female participants. A few classes have al- ways had girls in them, but their numbers are increas- ing also. From the teachers' point, of view, girls' grades are equal to or sometimes better than guys'. Their work compares equally, also. In some cases one might think that there were some things that girls couldn't handle. This is not the case at Fairview. Both students and teachers agree that there's nothing a girl can't do. If physically girls aren't able to handle these classes be- cause the work is hard or requires male strength, there is no evidence of this so far. The job fields in industrial arts are many and open to the members of both sexes. The opportunities for fe- males in these areas will surely grow as in other career choices.
