STAGE IEAND I at-ii Improvisation Is the E This year's stage bands were patterned atter the old big bands, as they played only jazz, rock and popular pieces. Members of the bands worked on their improvisations, for concerts where they had a chance to do spontaneous solos. The stage bands per- formed in the Jazz-Rock concert, Pops Festival, and a spring jazz rock concert. Stage band I also accompnied Excalibur to Colorado Music Educators Associa- tion lCMEAl in Colorado Springs, and to the Golden Jazz Festival at the School of Mines in Golden. .mia J. Kent, B. Under the direction of new FHS teacher, Mr Hannisian, the orchestra participated in the Music Extravaganza and the fall musical WHERE'S CHAR LIE. The group also put on their annual Winter and Spring concerts. In January, the talented musicians performed benefit concerts at area junior high schools. 15 of the members were selected to play with the first annual Centennial League Or- chestra that performed Jan. 26 at Heritage High School. Also, for the first time, 45 members of the group spent two days skiing at Vail. Greg Wills displays his muscles. Lynne Andrade plays again! Lynne Sangster checks on Doug Marston.
