One ofthe more talented bands in the Music Division was symphonic. The band performed in two concerts this year, including the Extravaganza. Sym- phonic Band is also a division of the Nlarching Band. They have also display- ed their talent in numerous parades throughout the year. The band was also responsible for the Italian dinner, a fund raising project to cover the expenses for their trip to Canon City, where they per- formed in the Blossom Day Nlarching Contest. CONCERT BAND Small- But Might The Concert Band directed by Mr. Bob Jeffrey consists of juniors and seniors. This hard working crew makes up a part of the pride of the Boulder Valley, the Fairview Nlarching Knights. Concert Band met 5th hour and worked diligent- ly for one hour everyday. STAGE IEAND I at-ii Improvisation Is the E This year's stage bands were patterned atter the old big bands, as they played only jazz, rock and popular pieces. Members of the bands worked on their improvisations, for concerts where they had a chance to do spontaneous solos. The stage bands per- formed in the Jazz-Rock concert, Pops Festival, and a spring jazz rock concert. Stage band I also accompnied Excalibur to Colorado Music Educators Associa- tion lCMEAl in Colorado Springs, and to the Golden Jazz Festival at the School of Mines in Golden. .mia J. Kent, B.
