1950 CHALLENGE Enroute through Georgia November l, l963 Ay dear Miss Kinney I am so happy to hear of your appointment as principal of grand old Fair view High School and not at all surprised that Mr Shepley has moved into the position of Erie County Supervisor of Schools Best of all, I suspect, is Mr Timmons' joy as head of the elaborate new Science 'ab The new school must be a far cry from the one we thought to be tops Shall try to scribble off this note while Miss Rosenburg drlves We are headed for Alabama This is certainly interesting work and there is such sat isfaction in knowing that we're able to help these deserving people Both Gloria and I shall be forever grateful that you advocated our doing social service work Aside from our busy routine, we've been able to keep in contact with our friends who enjoyed such riotous living in 'SO In fact, last August we had a class reunion at the home of Joanne and Norman Rogers who live in Greenville in a lovely bungalow ju t a few blocks from their expansive grocery store Annabelle Michaelson, as you knew her, is content with her little family and a home in Kansas She was unable to attend our get together, but sent such a sweet note which Joanne read to the group Jane Weidler was the only other person who couldn't be on hand Her New York position wouldn't permit lt As you no doubt know, Jane is truly in her glory as soloist with Fred Waring Could you guess who remains the ed his formula for care free living, our memories, namely, 'What's there Bob is about ready to leave the play boy? When ask his retort struck a familiar old chord in o worry about9n Philadelphia Eagles and has every inten tion of settling down to a quiet life He never outgrew the title nFox of Fairvlew or his ability to play football Looking very elegant in his Lieutenant General's uniform, James Juntunen still impressed us as being an adventurous soul Lillian Cole also appeared in the uniform of the armed forces which always neld a great attraction to her Ma.lene Hauck showed inclinations for be ng a clever saleswoman during our high school days She is now employed by Burkhart Drugs which is a chain of stores iness and Karl est apple the side, in the New England States Don Burkhart owns and operates that bus makes his home in Johnstown, Pa Brozell and John Hanlsek have combined forces to develop the grand orchards in our native state Karl keeps a large chicken farm on and we are told that both men give frequent talks at county ag meet Margaret Desko took her nurse's training at homot and is now supervisor of the children's ward where she's doing an expert Job The kiddos just adore her charming ways A cousin of mine Patrolman James Sirak ing about hls bravery changed my mind about Of all our class from Pittsburgh sent a clipping in her last letter about Jim never impressed us as being a tough guy, but read during a tussel with two East side gangsters certainly hlm members, one 1S truly unsuspected Perhaps you read the article in Life Vagazine on George Walsley's accomplishments Vho would ever think that the revolutionary new plastlcs orlginated from corn stalks?
