Principal N FAIRPORT, NEW YORK Dear Seniors: To you splendid young folk and your advisors, who have labored with earn- est loyalty to produce the 1950 Hour Glass, depicting the school life in Fair- port High School and the ideals we strive to build into character, goes our grateful praise. The selecting and assembling of materials, best illustrative of school life and ideals obtaining here, is a challenging assignment. Not alone must- the best and worthy be chosen, but it must be presented in good taste, sanc- tioned by artistic and editorial standards. This you have done so well that real satisfaction and pride must be yours. Former yearbooks have been of such merit as to discourage the hope of excelling. However, I an sure many will rate the 1950 Hour Glass as the best ever. The theme, MOVIES, cleverly conceives the importance of this great educa- tional agency in influencing character, and the need for wise and careful ap- praisal and selection of the offerings movies present. Wise choices cannot be too strongly urged. Financing the publication of so expensive a project, with the limited sales available, could be done only by the skillfully managed support of paid advertisements. Those in charge of this have exemplified good business manage- ment, another skill so helpful in successful living. You may have sacrificed an earlier date of publication by more careful deliberation than might have seemed necessary. However, you have gained in the quality of the work, an aim always to be kept in mind. My sincere congratulations to you fine young people and to those who so effectively helped. ADMINISTRATION BOARD OF EDUCATION The affairs of Fairport High School are ably run by the Board of Education. They are responsible for the mainte- nance of the school buildings, the selection of a capable teaching staff and the admin- istration of educational de- velopment in all the village schools. The ' students of F.H.S. owe thanks to these people who give so willingly of their time. NELSON R. BURTON Principal Nelson R. Burton has com- pleted his second year as principal of Fairport High School. Every morning the students are greeted by Mr. Burton's smile and cheerful, Good Morning. He is our producer, giving guidance and understanding to those who ask his help.
