off disaster Fnnally Andy Rntek broke loose and carrued the pugsknn over for our only touchdown He then plunged over for the polnt whnch decided the game Faurport 6 Home Ashtabula 33 Faarport decndedly the underdog went onto the fleld full of pep determuned to make a close game of It Thenr hopes were dampened for the flrst quarter was hardly under way when Rose made a touchdown The half tame scare was l3 O Ashtabula lt wasn t untul the last quarter that we were able to score A neotly executed pass from Gasper to Lakua and one from Gasper to Sturm put us on the Panther s one yard lune Johnny Gasper plunged over for the scare Fairport l2 Home Canneaut 6 Despite the set back of the Ashtabula game the Skrppers came back and showed the town that they were stall an there flghtnng Conneaut started off by scoring a touchdown ln the first quarter Falrport came back In the second quarter and by excellent passing put the ball on the 6 yard lane of Conneaut where Johnny Gasper plunged over to make It 6 6 Our forward wall held the Conneaut team for the rest of the game lt seemed as though the game would end thus way but wnth less than a mnnute to ploy Gap Congas leaped up untercepted a pass and streaked 55 yards for a touch dawn maklng It l2 6 Fairport O Away Harbor l3 The tradntnonol funeral basket then ln the keepnng of Harbor was passed to us as we were unable to cope wnth the runnnng and passing of Meyers and Wasson After the fnrst quarter when Harbor clicked for the flrst score Faurport was able ta hold the Harbor team In check However nn the last quarter they broke through after an 80 yard drlve and the fnnal score was l3 O Jack Sturm and Pete Kovacs were the outstandnng players for us and dnd much to keep the game from being a rout Fanrport O Away Paunesvulle 33 ln the tradutnonal grudge game the Skuppers and Ralders tangled wrth a result that turned out to be very disastrous for the Sklppers In more ways than one Harvey drew flrst blood In the flrst quarter Thus dudnt seem to satnsfy them and by the end ofthe furst half they were leadung 20 O Thus wasn t half as bad as the injury of Jack Sturm who recenved a broken law ln the second quarter During the last half Fanrport with the great lane bucknng of Gosper held the Ralders to l3 pannts Outstandung for Four port along wuth Sturm and Gasper was Pete Kovacs who was repeatedly thrust out of the game because of nnyurues only to return and play his some steady game Fanrport 7 Home Geneva l3 Geneva came here expectlng to snow our team under but when they left they thought they had tangled with a bunch of wlldcats The furst half went just about as Geneva wanted It wlth the Sanzatta brothers combnnnng to score l3 polnts The second half was a horse of a dlfferent color as our boys came back determlnecl to drive Geneva rnght off the fueld They held the powerful Geneva team helpless and by excellent passing and runnung we were able to score Gasper threw a 35 yard pass to Szuhay who took the ball and raced for 39 more yards He ogaun took the ball and burrow lContlnued on Page 493 28 1 I 1 ' 1 . , . -I . , , 1 , '. 1 1 1 1 ' I -. 1 1 - 1 , . . , -' I 1 . . . .., , .. . .
