WWW ,J W 'Y Xen 505110146 Fairmount lost a citizen and Fairmount High School lost a patron with the death of Xen Edwards in July of 1963. Mr. Edwards, proprietor of the Pioneer Drug Store for nearly sixty years, was a leader in com- munity improvement. Among his main interests were the high school and young people in general. A member of the Fairmount School Board for seventeen years, he did much to promote schools and education. His contributions will live after him as a memorial. cscgoof Gonsofkfzon These trustees and school board members initiated the Madison- Grant Metropolitan School District when they signed the consolidation resolution on October 10, 1963. A 6 to 1 vote on January 7, 1964 con- firmed their decision. Seated are Geraldine Carter, Fairmount, Mrs. Harlon Waymire, Duck Creek, Donald Gossett, VanBuren, John Hiatt, Boone.
