Walter this year, The purpoe of the club is to trade. buy, and study stamps of all origins. colors and designs, In doing this, the members purchas- ed :even new stamp albums and several United States and general stamp catalogues. Mr. Walter was host at a spring party held for the ten members of the club. Sev- eral boys outside the club became interested in this hobby toward the last of the year and conse- quently the club has a good fu- ture. Meetiigs were held each Thursday and Friday during the third period. MODEL CLUB Dale Reeder ........ President Charles Gaddis. .Vice-president Ralph Rybolt ....... Secretary Max Walker ........ Treasurer One month after school started a ntw club was organized. It was the Model club sponsored by Leonard H. Nolte, shop instructor. The club met third period every Thursday, and occasional meet- ings were held in the gym on Wcdneday nights. One of these meetings featured an indoor air- plane model flying contest. A fly- ing model meet at Purdue was entered by Charles Wesco, Sev- eral other members attended this meet. As a climax for the year, the members built airplane mod- els for the government, a job which proved to be an interesting test of the ability of the model builders. TWIRLING CORPS A twirling corps was formed this year with Martha Jean Cooper, majorettc, responsible for starting it. She was appointed student instructor and much credit is due her. Charles Nesbitt, drum major. was the only boy to twirl the baton this year. The Corps presented a floor show. accompanied by the band, at each of the eight home basket- ball games, Twelve twirlers and the majorette participated in the County Rural Youth Amateur contest and received third place. Eight twirlers and the majorette performed at the Stamp and Bond shows held in Fairmount, Sum- mitville and Alexandria in the spring. Each girl made her own uni- form excepting the majorettc whose uniform was presented to the school bv the local chapter of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
