THE BAIID When your Llfe reporter ealled ln Falrmount comlng from the front steps of the hlgh school he notlced the school band ln marchlng formatlon He paused to watch and thought to hlmself that the band has had a most busy and successful year Rupert Kllgore organmed thls group ln the tall Some are veteran members vthlle others were promoted from the begmnlng lnstrument class Mr Kllgore told us that the band had played at every home basketball game Early ln the sorlng a band unlform drlve was started and a benetlt basketball game was featured along wlth a conce rt Another concert was played for the ODCHIHE of Adam s Dutch Mlll on Aorll 27 A convocatlon was presented before the entlre student body on Mav 2 and on May 5 the group attended the Ball State MUSIC Festlx al at MUUCIC vthere they played 2 numbers lncludlng Mer IH Grey and Korsakoff May 7 found the band members IU the MHFICFD MUSIC Festual at Marlon Agaln at a concert on Sunday afternoon Mav ll the barfd and glee clubs presented an hours oncer ln the hlgh school audltorlum Upon lnvltatlon the band played at the Hospltal Day IH MBFIOH on May 18 Here the band marched wlth other county bands Mr Kllgore told our reporter that Ralph Wllllams better knovtn as Shorty 'lad been chesen for drum major Shortv is a sen1or vtho played solo trumpet ln the band untll late ln the ve ar when he was appolnted drum major In the u ture there wlll be 4 glrls chosen as twlrlels Appearlng ln the plcture mlth thelr lnstruments ID the flrst column left fron to back are Paul McCracken barltone Merrlll Ph1IIlpS barltone EdXkID Hooxer horn Rupert.
