We ll :J A-.JJ stop in a beautiful modern city at a large and stately government I S ' building, which we enter. At the presiding desk of the Senate, .loc 1 1, Pickard is standing. He is speaking to the large assembly and the spirit tells me he 'I' E' is powerful and that the Senate does as he dictates. We pass on to the House of it Z, Representatives and here at the speaker's desk, Arthur Osborn rules. E it Our next stop is at a large modern school building. We meet Mr. Bosley, the 1 2 superintendent, in his oiiice, and Frances Kirkwood his oiiice girl. He welcomes us III E giartxilybaiid we Cgo wiihlliini tol visit the classesland roonpls. In the history room Bertha FS Z, ac 'er y presi es. i ian B air is found to we a teac er in the English department. i:i Harold Comer is the Science teacher, having one of the best departments in the country. E E Emma Davis, the Physical Training director and coach of the girls B. B. team, is as 3 1 talkative as ever. Suzanne Barruet is busily engaged in the Public Speaking Depart- 1 E' ment. Superintendent Bosley informs us that she has made a fine reputation as a 1 I result of the many excellent speakers that have been sent out from her department. E' E VVe next visit the gym and find Bob Hollingsworth giving final instructions to his I :J contenders for the State Basket Ball championship. Ed. Kimes, the commercial teacher, II E is showing the school yell leader how he did the job back in Fairmount High School. Kg 3 'We leave the school building and my guide soon stops at a store gayly decked with 1 iv toys and other attractive things. I am very much surprised when I hear, What may 41, E I do for you please? Looking around, I see Charles Pickard who is the proprietor of '11 1 the highest grade Ten Cent Store in town. E I The spirit takes me out again into the gathering dusk where every one seems to be S hastening home to supper. This reminds me that I ani hungry. The spirit and I go lg I into a Cafe. Over the door hangs the sign, Americus Vespucius Cafe. As we enter, I2 I: whom should we meet but Mack We-imer, the owner of this place. VVe are cordially 3 I welcomed and invited into his private dining room for dinner with himself and wife, Z' 1 Ethel ISI VVeimer. After a most enjoyable meal we arise to take our leave and Ethel CS E insists that we should go to the Lyons Theatre this evening as Madame Lyons has E3 3, engaged Sarah Leach, the noted dancer, for the week. II 'Is Upon arriving at the theatre, we tind it crowded, but we wedge our way in to see the lil 'II wonderful new dance of the season. The Lyons Theatre is noted for its superior orches- 3 'il tra and to our great satisfaction we discover four of our old class-mates to be members Fl, 1 of it. They are: Leslie IVilhern, Lucile Lewis, and Llora Brown, with Loren Cain as thc 1 E, Director. The manager informs us the wonderful scenery was painted by Beth Winslow. Reading the article I find E 'IJ that the Rev. Clyde Meredith has been honored as its first minister. Miss Maude Corbin, is I a returned missionary from Africa, is to be one of the prominent speakers and Margaret I1-' is Taylor the noted evangelistic singer, also to contribute to the dedication service. 2 I On another page of the paper I notice an article concerning a new radio invention, gig I credited to Everett Smith. li! SJ After spending the night with Mary Bevington, who is to he married the next Q 1 Sunday, I enter a Beauty Parlor and to my great surprise tind that Mary Duling owns 53 ii the shop. VVe talk for some time about old times and just as I am rising to go, in '-3 1' rushes Frank Brewer to have his nails manicured. Frank is a noted lawyer and tells S E' me that he is on his way to tht- court house to try the divorce case of Roy John and lg 53, Llora Brown-.Iohn on the charge ot' lost ove.
