The Daughters of the American Revolution Test stimulated Eleanor Whiteside to delve further into the study of American history and government. Fairmont Characterized by Cynthia Aultz conceived the idea for her prize-winning Voice of Democracy speech while talking with a friend. Karen Delaney, winner of the Hire the Handicapped Contest, con- tinues Fairmont's winning ways in state competition.

Academically Talented .epresenting Fairmont as National Merit semi-finalists are: Jerry Malone, Joyce ittenhouse, Peggy Langston, Eleanor Whiteside, Tom Metz and Sandi Sizer. Chosen as Fairmonfs representative to the first Atoms for Peace conference is Bill Weist. Fairmont boasts a healthy record of Megg- headsf, Bill Vlfeist exemplifies the efforts of all con- scientious students. He was nominated as a Dayton area representative to the national '4Atoms for Peace conference. . Fairmont hails six National Merit semi-final- istsg Peggy Langston, Jerry Malone, Tom Metz, Joyce Rittenhouse, Sandi Sizer, and Eleanor White- side. Seventy-one seniors compose the Senior Schol- arship Team, chosen on the basis of an elimination test. Those with the highest scores were named as team members.
