Q 5 P X - , If 1 . ' 7 'N b ? - X Within the space of six short years great changes have taken place in Kettering, particularly in the school system. Fairmont's graduating class rf 1957 held commencement exercises in the building which now houses J. L. Barnes Junior High Schoolg the 763-'64 school year will see two Fairmonts-East and West-wx'ith an enrollment of nearly three thousand iigh school students. Growth and expansion have uprooted the school physically, but Fair- nont spirit stands stronger than ever, united in one tradition. Passing lecades have seen a fine reputation expand to include state and even lational recognition through 'the efforts of students and faculty. These :fforts have made Fairmont tradition-in scholastic achievement, athletics, speech, music, art, school spiritg each individual makes his contribution to his outstanding heritage. This tradition began in the past, but it is not just a dead memory of festerday, because it has been kept alive in the spirit of the student body. ft is an integral part of today, a precious gift which increases in value fear after year in the hands of those who appreciate it. Today,s students lave received the glittering jewel of Fairmont tradition unmarredg they n turn will proudly pass it on to the generations of tomorrow. Vocational courses train us for our prospective occupations. Fairmont East will represent the ultimate in school design College bells call us to a future edu- cation and a fuller life. 7
