Prof.; Psychology Director The Student Counseling Center operates for the purpose of providing a setting whereby students may, with the help of a professional counselor, seek realistic decisions pertaining to academic-vocational or personal-social problems. The counselors are professionals trained in clinical practice and counseling psychology. All student records are treated as confidential information and set apart from other . records of the college. No information is released on or off campus without the knowledge and written consent of the student. Students utilize the services of the center on a strictly voluntary basis. DIVISION OF COMMERCE The Division of Commerce offers the student several choices in his selection of a major field of study. Under the B.S. degree the student may obtain a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in General Business, Economics, or Accounting. Also under the B.S. degree is the possibility of majoring in Office Administration. In the A.B. in Education the student may earn a degree in Business Education-Comprehensive or Business Education- Secretarial. DIVISION OF EDUCATION The education of teachers at Fairmont State College is designed to utilize the cooperative functions of the several subject matter areas and the division of professional education. The philosophy of the College is that adeguate preparation for teaching reguires rich and comprehensive experiences in the area of general education, concentration in a comprehensive or in two of the subject matter fields, and the development of certain attitudes, skills and understanding which characterize effective teaching. Fairmont State College offers teaching curricula leading to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Education.
