WHO ' S WHO LAMBDA DELTA LAMBDA Each year Fairmont State College honors a few select students by naming them to Who ' s Who. The ones selec- ted are outstanding students who have shown the charac- teristics of scholarship, participation and leadership in ac- ademic and extracurricular activities, citizenship and ser- vice to the school, and promise of future usefulness. Stu- dents are selected once a year by an impartial council of seven juniors and sophomores and six faculty members. Those chosen are listed in Who ' s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities and are given certificates on Recognition Day. Lambda Delta Lambda, national physical science honor- ary, was founded at Fairmont State College in 1925. In order to qualify for membership in this select group, a stu- dent must have an overall 3.00 grade average and a 3.00 average in at least 14 hours of chemistry and physics. KAPPA GAMMA Kappa Gamma, the Fairmont State College debate hon- orary, was reestablished last year as a part of the debate club. The honorary is open to those college debaters who have participated with skill in a minimum of five rounds of inter-collegiate debate. The officers of the debate club must have qualified for membership in Kappa Gamma. KAPPA GAMMA— Seated, B. Shreve. E. Irviti; standing. J. Bock. Suzanne Snyder, faculty advisor. BETA BETA BETA Beta Beta Beta, National Biology Honorary, was founded in 1922 at the University of Oklahoma. Its objec- tives are scholarship and the promotion of biological re- search. FRESHMAN COUNSELORS Freshman week is the time of action for the hard work- ing Freshman Counselors. Their membership includes the five Student Council elected officers and all the past coun- selors who are in good standing concerning; leadership, citizenship, and scholarship. The rest of the quota is open to anyone in the student body who qualifies. The final se- lection is based upon academic standing, leadership qual- ities, character, citizenship, and school services. 26
