Youth and enthusiasm could be two words used to describe the 1986 volleyball season at Fairmont High School. The 19 girls that started practice in Mid-August had one thing on their mind — WIN. Through the up and down season the Ti- gers were able to achieve many of the goals that they set for themselves and their teammates. Un- derclassmen played a large role on the team this year, which has hopefully helped to build a strong program for many years to come. Battling through a tough schedule, the Varsity girls were able to achieve a great deal of success in the 8-10 season. They finished in the upper half of the Crossroads Conference and earned a sec- ond place at their own Fairmont Invitational. Many individual awards were also garnered by some of the athletes. Raina Pieper was selected to the Con- ference Second Team and Class D-1 All-State Honorable Mention. Jerri Radke received All-Con- ference Honorable Mention. With these kinds of performances behind the girls, Fairmont High can hopefully look forward to many good years of volleyball in the near future. It is up to the athletes as far as how much they want to achieve in the next few years. Eat It!!!!! Fairmont Invitational — Second Place Seniors Receive Trophy
