P.J.’s Tiger STRENGTH! John rebounds. Matt shows good form. The 1985-86 basketball season was better than what the record showed. Along with having a new coach and learning his system, Fairmont played a number of rated teams and played most of their games on the road. The Tigers improved throughout the year and were very competitive the last part of the season. In three of the last four games, Fairmont upset Polk, lost by three to Milligan on their home court, and played a tough game against Exeter in the opening round of Sub-District play. Milligan and Polk went to State in Class D-2 and Exeter became the Class D-l champions. Honors earned during the season went to senior P.J. O’Connor who was named All-Conference Honorable Mention. The letter winners are Shane Jantzi, P.J. O’Connor, John Block, Tim Wehland, Eric Schepers and Matt Schepers. Back Row: Jason Harms, Lance Logan, Merle Swartz, Richard Logan, Daniel Hall, B.J. Luethke, Scott Hurst, Danny Scheil, Greg Burback. Front Row: Student Manager Rob Nun, Coach Rathke, Coach Boss, Student Manager Tyler Pieper. (Not pictured Mark Hanson)
