Tiger 81 Fairmont High School Fairmont, Nebraska Our Last Memories The cornerstone for the original Fairmont Public School was laid on March 12, 1909. The laying of the cornerstone for the building was of great importance because it brought the fundamentals of the public school system of Nebraska to Fairmont. The cornerstone was donated by the pupils at that time expressing their gratitude for the new building. In 1980 the first brick was laid as construction of the new high school began. We believe more than ever that as the first brick became the solid foundation of the school building even so education is the fundamental requisite of our lives. We dedicate this yearbook to the old High School building which holds fond memories for hundreds of FHS graduates. 2 Shelly Berggren Tracy Hoeft Kevin Koozer u m i Franci Jacobsen Dale Korbelik Bill Ehmen Susan Jacobsen Sheryl Krejci 4 Kenny McCoy Rick McDaniel Randy Nutz Christy Rasmussen Stacey Reed Julie Roper Shelly Berggren -VB 1-4, Homecoming Att. 1,4, BB 1-4, Track 2-4, Athletic Banq. The highly talented Tiger football team ended this season as champions of the South-Central Conference and District co-champions. Strong leadership from Coach Walburn and Asst. Coach Collins contributed to the 1980 Tiger’s successful season. One lone loss from District Co-Champs Lawrence proved to be the only blemish on the tiger record. The path began with the third place win over Lawrence at Conference and continued to a first place win at Districts. Some highlights of the season included wins over Class C Geneva and Exeter and a narrow loss over highly rated Roseland. The Tigers closed the season with an excellent 19-4 record. Senior starters Dale Korbelik and Bill Ehmen received honorable mention all state in both the Lincoln Journal and the World Herald.
