TIGER 80 Fairmont High School Fairmont, Nebraska To The Patrons of District 19 . . . We, the student body of Fairmont Public School, wish to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the patrons of District 19. The decision you made to pursue the school bond issue was a difficult and time consuming task. By voting yes for the new school we believe that you are expressing hope and confidence in us as individuals, and in our future as responsible, well educated citizens. When asked her opinions about this year, she said she felt it was a learning experience for everybody. She didn't know who learned more, her or the students, but everyone put in long, hard hours and did the best that he could. The volleyball team, under the leadership of Linda Reason, experienced a tough 1979-80 season. The team lost 4 of the varsity starters, but the girls still tried their hardest. The varsity team was made up of mostly juniors and seniors, except for 2 sophomores. They will be losing 6 seniors, but many experienced players will return. Gina pleading for extra help. Surpassing last years record of 1-8, the talented Tigers proved that they had pizzaz and thus proved to have played their opponents very tough. They had a winning season and leadership qualities showed as well. Kevin Koozer and Randy Ehmen were team captains. Bill Ehmen, Kevin Koozer made All-Conf., Randy Whitehead and Kevin Koozer made All-State. All-Conference: Bill Ehmen, Kevin Koozer, Randy Whitehead. 40 Don't you have the wrong guy? With a well balance ball club, Coach Anderson managed to give all 12 players playing time on the floor. The Tigers won the East division Conference title as they were undefeated in their first year in the new Conference. Players who were honored during the season were team captains Steve Koozer and Randy Ehmen, who both made honorable mention Allstate and 1st and 2nd team All-Conference. The Tigerette cagers had a disap- pointing season this year. Two lone victories against Trumbell and Ruskin averted a winless season. During Homecoming week the school participated in Spirit activities. Some of the various events included were a Pin-Up Day, Roll-Up Day, Tie-Up Day, and Jewelry Day. The Thursday night before, students and Faculty took part in a bonfire rally. The Seniors, in an attempt to raise class money, had a car smashing exhibition at 3 swings for 50c. Friday afternoon all of the Fairmont High School classes participated in the Homecoming parade. The winning float was done by the Juniors. That night the Tigers played against the Lawrence Panthers and the game ended in 6-6 deadlock. After the game the Homecoming dance started with King Steve and Queen Desiree dancing the first dance. Entertainment that night was provided by ''Complete Music . A covered dish supper was served, with ham provided by the Boosters Club. Donna Vodicka and Randy Ehmen were crowned queen and king. The Eighth grade class gave a skit on Basketball of the Future. What a group of people!!! Precious and Few was the theme for 1980 Junior-Senior prom. A good deal of time and work on the part of the Junior class, resulted in a beautifully decorated room. Randy Nutz gave a fine welcoming speech. After the dinner there was entertainment by Zef .
