Fairmont Public School Fairmont, Nebraska THE TIGER 1972-1973 Sadie Farrar The 1973 Tiger is dedicated to two of Fairmont High's favorite teachers, Mrs. Sadie Farrar and Mrs. Bertha Anderson. They both hold the record for teaching the longest at F.H.S. Mrs. Farrar was born in 1904. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1922. She attended Hastings College and the University of Nebras- ka. She was married to Homer Farrar in 1925. They had two children, Joan (deceased) and Ralph. Mrs. Farrar began her teaching career in 1926 and taught 9 years. She quit teaching and did not resume her teaching career until 1944. Since then she has taught continuously. She has been teaching for 18 1 2 years in Fair- mont. Mrs. Farrar belongs to several organizations in Fairmont. She is look- ing forward to her retirement with great anticipation. Some of her plans are to keep active in church and community affairs, take some trips and see her grandchildren, who live in Ames, Iowa and Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Farrar states, This is just another phase in my life and I am looking forward to this phase with as much anticipation as other phases in my life. The 1972 Football season at Fairmont High School was not a winning one, but could be termed a rebuilding season. The Tigers ended the season with a 3-6 rec- ord. This record includes a 2 point loss to Byron at Homecoming and a touchdown loss to a Strong Doniphan Team. In either of the two games a needed break could have turned the game around in favor of Fairmont. On the good side, the 72 season did produce 16 lettermen, with most of these being underclassmen. With these peo- ple returning and a few needed breaks the 1973 campaign has hopes of being a winning season!
