The junior attendants were Joyce Smith and Harold Long, soph- omore attendants Suzanne Hulse and Jerry Stone, fresh- man attendants Pamie Albro and Dan Schepers. After the royalty had gathered on the football field Joyce Tucker took the queen’s crown from Berry Boardman and crowned DeAnne Frazier Queen and Bob Wettstead took the King's crown and crowned Larry Schepers King. The royalty then walked down the field so that the aud- ience could see our new King and Queen of Homecoming. Homecoming Queen DeAnne Frazier Homecoming King Larry Schepers King Larry Schepers and Queen DeAnne Frazier For the first time in the history of Homecoming at Fairmont there was not wonderful weather. Our Homecoming game was played and our Homecoming King and Queen were crowned in drizzling rain. A beautiful float to be used that night had been made by the Pep Club but they were unable to get it to the field because of the mud. Even though the weather wasn't the best, the fans stayed to watch the game between Fairmont and Exeter and the crowning ceremonies. The Tigers stayed in the tradition of never losing a Homecoming game and brought home a victory over Exeter of 23-13. At the crowning ceremonies at half time DeAnne Frazier was crowned Queen of Homecoming and Larry Schepers was crowned King of Homecoming. After the game there was a dance in the gym with Alumni attending. Refreshments and dancing were en- joyed by both the students and Alumni. After a delicious meal we were lead in song by DeAnne Frazier and Dianne Perkins. Jean Bridgman then welcomed everyone and intro- duced the speakers. Bob Wettstead, Honorary Football Captain, gave a short speech telling about our very successful football season and then presented our Pioneer Con- ference football trophy to Mr. Edwall. Paul Adams, Honorary Bas- ketball Captain, gave a speech on sportsmanship and how partici- pating in sports can help a person. Our speaker Mike Corgan speech was based on the value of getting the best grades that you can while you are in high school. The senior girls who had been in Pep Club for four years were honored by Mrs. Podoyl with charms and Mr. Finley honored the boys who had parti- cipated in sports with letters and medals. It'8 a long reach A lively threesome Main Attraction Prom????? The fun began for the junior class when they selected ’’Twilight Time as the theme for their prom. After that much planning and preparation took place. An old barn was picked to be the workshop. On the Friday before the prom, the gym was closed off and actual decorating began. This day the juniors also selected as their slouch day, so everyone was dressed for work. Along with the junior sponsors, Mr. Friday and Mrs. Podoyl, Mr. Jones was also present to lend a helping hand. The working hours turned out to be fun hours, too. On Saturday the final touches were added and everything was ready—the juniors hoped! Prom The theme of the prom this year was Twilight Time. It was decorated as a garden scene with an arched entrance as you come into the garden and with a big yellow moon. There was also a wishing well and park benches setting around. The guests ate a delicious meal which was served by the sophomores. They then watched the program which consisted of speeches and a short skit by the sophomore servers. After the mea' everyone enjoyed themselves by danc- ing to the fine music of the Mark IV Combo. We are sure that every- one had a very memorable evening at the prom this year. Eighth Grade Activities The eighth graders were kept quite busy this year with their games and activities. They had a Halloween party at which they all had fun, even if it was a little late. They exchanged gifts at a Christmas party and also had a Valentine party. They celebrated their graduation after the diplomas were given and the handshaking was over. They went to Lincoln and visited several interesting places such as the Federal Reserve Bank, the Planetarium, the State Capitol, the museum, the Police Department, the Historical So- ciety, the Fire Department and after all this they attended a show. The game with Fairmont’s traditional rival, Exeter, turned out a hard-won victory for the eighth grade. Cheered on by the pep club and cheerleaders, they cinched the game in the final minutes of play by a score of 37 to 25.
