When we started school September 1 I9k5p met our first classmates: Glen Lefler, Ronnie Buhl, David Tomlinson, Billy Spitz, Vern Newman, Dick Quick, Jerry Mason, Carol Ackerman, Nadine Ackerman, Donald Windlan, Kenneth Swartz, Robert Burns, Sandra Schepers, Gwen Garrett, Judy Fleharty, Edward Moyle, Doris Cantrell, Janyce Gangstad, and Carol Nebbe. During the year Jessie Perkins, Max and Maxine Beavers and Mary Long Joined the class making a total of 23 pupils. Our first grade year began with 5 new members, Lynn Atwood, Donald Brenner, Kenneth and Margie Zimmerman and DJel Ann Gallup. We lost Ronnie Buhl, Billy Spitz, Carol Nebbe, and Jessie Perkins. Miss Malsbury was our teacher, with 2k in the class. Gale Stollar, Darlene Lott, Roger Patton and Beverly Schultz Joined us in the second grade. We had 26 pupils with Miss Malsbury as our teacher. Miss Hurst was our teacher in the third grade. Roger Patton and Beverly Schultz left our class but Larry Gish and Lenora Taylor entered. Dennis Anderson came at the end of the year, and Larry Gish left. At the beginning of the fourth grade 6 pupils left us: Jerry Mason, Darlene Lott, DJel Ann Gallup, Dick Quick, Eddie Moyle and Vern Newman. Beverly Miller and Violet Carley joined our class. Miss Hurst taught us again. In the 5th grade Miss Naraa was our teacher with Miss Epperson teaching us English and Penmanship. Violet Carly and Lenora Taylor left us that year. Arlen Schneider and Gaylord Eifert came in from the country. Dee Richardson, Jim Pease and Leta Sanman also Joined us. The 6th grade year started with 22 students. We lost Leta Sanman and Dee Richardson and gained Phyllis Adams and Kathy Kelch. Darlene Lott, Dee Richarsdon and Larry Gish rejoined us in the 7th grade. Dale James, Roy Fry, Betty Burwell, and Barbara Olson also joined the class. We lost Dale James and Gwen Garrett during the year. Miss Brown was our teacher. At the beginning of our last year in grade school, Ray Ledbetter, Jean Stuckey, Elizabeth Rathburn, Janice Hulse and Lenora Taylor came to our class. Ray Ledbetter and Arlen Schneider left us during the year and Allan Innman Joined us. We had 30 students in our class at the end of the year. Mrs. Edith Bixby was our teacher. Thirty bright students entered the halls of Fairmont High in our Freshman year. Mr. Aleck was our sponsor. Mary Long left during the year. Bernard Most, Louis Becker and Karen Roby Joined us for our green Freshman year. Our sophomore year we lost Barbara Olson, Bernard Most and Dee Richardson. Our sponsor was Richard Maschka. Three sophomore girls were cheerleaders this year. Seven boys lettered in football ana four in basketball. Gale Stollar received All Conference Trailways Honorable Mention in football. Our sponsors in our Junior year were Mr. Farrar and Mrs. Cellar. Jerry 3achmann entered our class that year. We produced our class play âââOut of the Frying Panâ, received our class rings, and prepared the Junior-Senior Banquet, âStork Clubâ and Prom. Gale Stollar received honorable mention at the All-State Eight-Man Football Team. Gale Stollar was also placed on the All-Conference First Team and Jim Pease on the All-Conference Second Team. Our basketball team won the Class C District Tournament and received Second in the Trailways Conference. We had many memories of our Senior year: class pictures were taken, the annual was prepared, and the senior play was produced. The most important was Baccalaureate and Commencement. Our class had 12 boys and 13 girls. Our class sponsors were Mr. Moore and Mrs. Rasmussen. Eleven members have been with the class through all the years: Kenneth Swartz, Glen Lefler, Carol Ackerman, Nadine Ackerman, Judy Fleharty, Bob Burns, Doris Cantrell, Sandra Schepers, Janyce Gangstad. Max and Maxine Beavers came during the last semester of the kindergarten year. I will my turned up collar to Gary Dawson I, Glen Lefler, will my curly dark hair to Bob Crawford in hbpes he wonât let It get messed up, and ray basketball ability to Lloyd Dawson since they are about the same size. I, Dennis Anderson, will my love for young women as soon as I find one for myself to Bob Crawford. Good luck. Bob! I, Max Beavers, will my twin sister to anyone that wants her, and my desk to Vern Nawman if I am through when Vern gets there. I, Darlene Lott, will my hair to Elaine Guthrie and my Pooch to Sharon Johnson. I, Lenora Taylor, will my position at the cafe to Tari Bender and my slenderness to Carrie Wragge. I, Sandra Schepers, will my ability to rack up brownie points to my sister Karen as though she needs them. I, Margie Zimmerman, will my grades to Vern Newman just to help him out a little bit, and my ability to drive the big Buick at all times to Gloria Hildebrand I, Gaylord Eifert, will my good looks to Bob Crawford and my ability to stay free of girls to my brother Marvin. I, Jerry Bachmann, will my Elvis Presley instinct to Hubby Hurst. I feel he could use a little more. I will my big I4.8 Buick to Nancy Gunlack so she can have Gene Anderson around. I, Kenneth Zimmerman, will my ability to stay out a night to Charlene Arbuck if she promises to make good use of it. GAYLORD EIFERT: A physical education instructor of the University of Nebraska. Gayâs love of calisthenics inspired him to go into this profession. KENNETH SWARTZ: Professor of Mathematics in the University of Colorado. His high school mathematics teacher induced his career. SANDRA SCHEPERS: First woman pilot to break the sound barrier--without an air- plane. Not bad for a 57 Chev., eh? MARGE ZIMMERMAN: Lady taxicab driver. She got her experience from her younger days in Fairmont. KATHRYN KELCH is her 1 flat tire changer DARLENE LOTT: Woman missionary in darkest Africa witch doctor who bears some resemblance to Rock Hudson. LENORA TAYLOR: Owns a chain of restaurants in the Midwest, boomed when she became the only waitress. JERRY BACHMANN: Top comedian on radio, but his Elvis Presley imitations kept him off television. His 1 singer is TUDY GANGSTAD who is now very closely related to him. CAROL ACKERMAN: Happily married wife living in Geneva. Her chief occupation Is raising little foxes . NADINE ACKERMAN: Preoccupied hunting a Wolf . In her spare time she is a telephone operator. KENNETH ZIMMERMAN: Chief debator In the U. S. Supreme Court. His arguing in school proved profitable. GLEN LEFLER: Auctioneer in Chicago Stock Exchange--selling grain by the head. JANICE HULSE: Secretary of the Alumni Association of F. H. S. This organization has become very active since the class of 58 graduated. JIM PEASE: Certified Public Accountant at Walt Disneyâs Studio in Hollywood. LOUIS BECKER: His long legs turned him into one of the best track stars. He then became the head track coach of the University of Kansas. MAXINE BEAVERS: Married to Jerry Smith and lives along the river. Her children supply her with her daily diet--fish. MAX BEAVERS: Flag pole sitter in the suburbs of the great city of Fairmont. KAREN ROBY: Head nurse at Bryan Memorial Hospital. She finds it a handy place to work, since she quite often needs a hospital bed. DENNIS ANDERSON: Leads an orchestra of his own. Hired Mr. Riggs to be the first trumpet player and to keep his music in order. ROY FRY: He and his brother. Dale, run the National Guards in the highest fashion.
