She is Betty Dawson; and Mias Moore was the brave teacher that started her In kindergarten. Dw®in© Hall and Betty Tice Joined our happy grouo in the first grade. Kiss Moore surviving the kindergarten year stayed and taught this enthusiastic group. 3 Miss Hurst then took the reins in the second grade. We had two new pupils that year, Barbara Hall and Dick Frazier. At the beginning of the third grade year we found Pat Adama and Shirley Tutty as our new students with Miss Hurst still guiding the reins. Miss Hurst was again our teacher as we struggled through the fourth grade. Denny Michaelis, Floyd Jacobsen, Betty Moul, Marvin Roper, and Duane Lott Joined our force that year. Four more students Joined us in the fifth grade. They were Jan Busselle, Delila Cantrell, Cody Stollar and Ivan Little. Also on the agenda was a new teacher Mrs. Ekwall. Betty moul, Marvin Roper, and Duane Lott left at the end of the year. Mrs. Dado took over during our sixth grade and we lost Barbara French who moved to Hastings. A new member of our class in the seventh grade was Jacky Pease. Mrs. Wendell was our teacher. Denny Michaelis left during the eighth grade. Mrs. Wendell taught us our final year in grade school. Twenty-one green freshmen climbed the steps of F.H.S. to start our high school careers. Many were new students that had come in from the country. They were Wendell Smith, Jerry Smith, Marvin Roper, Shirley Perkins, Rosalie Novak, Betty Moul, and Duane Lott. Dale Fry Joined us from Belvidere. Mr. Sipes was the class sponsor. The highlight of the year was Freshmen Initation which obviously we all survivedl For our soohomore year Mr. Sipes was again class sponsor. Shirley Souba left at the end of the year when she moved to Burrton, Kansas. Our Junior year was one we will never forget. We received our class rings, and presented our play, Down to Earth , which was directed by Mr. Robert Brown. It was a big success because of those long and well-remembered rehersals. The Junior- Senior Banquet and Prom was another big highlight with the theme Outer Space . Sandra Roby joined our class at the be- ginning of the Junior year and Dwaine Hall left to join the Air Force. Mr. Brown and Mr. Maschka were class sponsors. Last but not least we come to our senior year. Taking pictures, preoaring the annual, giving the class play; directed by Mrs. Cellar, and taking a sneak day, are all a Dart of the hustle bustle of being a senior. Then the long awaited baccalaurate and commencement bring our high school days to an end. With a class of nine boys and twelve girls we graduated from Fairmont High School. Our sponsors were Miss Allen and Mr. Robbins. TODAY WE FOLLOW TOMORROW WE LEAD Steward------------------V.endell Smith ,,rs . Sipping a soda we find Mr. Robbins, who is still on the Fairmont facul- ty, but has given up teaching the sciences for one of the finer arts, music, to be exact, talking t© Miss Allen, who has taken Christian Dior's place in the designing world and also has a bookkeeper's job on the side. We remem- ber these two people as our Senior Class sponsors. Well, who do we see in the next booth? None other than Jan Busselle and Bernard Norris still having a little spat. Jan is now the head hair- dresser in Chicago's largest beauty salon, Janice Cleopatra's Hideaway. Bernard is one of Chicago's best known lawyers, and has his own law firm. We find Floyd Jacobsen walking over to put some money in the juke box for a polka. Dlch Frazler is supplying the money. Since these men have not found the perfect woman they have become confirmed bachelors, and are Joint owners of a used car lot. Who is this that is Just arriving? Ohl It is Sandra Roby and Barbara Hall, of course their last names have changed, but they are giggling as usual. Sandra is Fillmore County's Hot Rod Queen and her husband and four children consider her a queen around the house, too. Barbara has taken Annie Maloney's place as singer in the Paul Moorhead dance band. Her talents come in handy when her children's lullaby time comes each evening. In an out of the way corner of the room we see Jerry Smith with his feet up on a stool engaged in his favorite past time, namely, loafing. He can afford to though, he has been blessed with an inheritance of six million dollars. In another booth we find two of our redheads, talking over family life. They are the former Betty Tice and Shirley Perkins. Betty has five children and plays the baritone and piano in her husband's dance band. Shirley is now leader of all girls 4-H projects in America. Sitting at the counter watching TV we find Ivan Little who is still getting up at five in the morning to do chores, but they are of a different nature nowdays • You see, he is the properous owner of a chicken farm. Good grief, it looks like this booth is filled to over flowing. Oh, it is jus the former Pat Adams and her five sets of twins. By the way, Pat is teaching dancing in her spare time. We find Duane Lott and Marvin Roper chasing a bug around the floor. They haven t gone berserk, but they are trying to get another specimen for their bug testing laboratory. As we look up who do we see coming through the door but Dellla Cantrell Snodgrass, who is the proud mother of four children. The Snodgrasses are residing in a trailer house in California. Everyone notices their eyes begin to hurt, and as they look out the window they see the reason why. Jacky Pease is still riding in a bright, red Pontiac. She is the best know physical' therapist in the U. S. The lights blink on and off a couple times, and we find out that Dale Fry is showing his classmates what he knows about his Job. He has taken over his dad s place as Fairmont s number one electrician • Tearing around the comer lickity split is our friend Cody S to liar who is one of America s best known athletes. He took Goose Tatums place with the Globe Trotters. Sitting in a booth we find two of Fairmont’s happiest women. They are the former Betty Moul and Shirley Tuttv. Betty is now a farmers wife, and is kept quite busy with her three children. Shirley is happily married t o Fairmont’s mayor. Walking between different groups of classmates we see Wendell Smith who is still carrying test tubes. He is married, but is still trying to conquer space. Sitting in a booth talking are the two old maids of the class, Rosalie Novak and yours truly, Betty Dawson. Rosalie is now a private secretary in the Hit and Kiss Insurance firm Tn New York, and I am the director of St. Thomas Orphanage in Lincoln. It has been very nice to get together again after all these years, and to see the changes that have taken place in the lives of all our classmates.
