CLASS PROPHECY And now quicker Oats those fine, crunchy oats with the tangy flavor, bring you Lineup of Famous People.' The program this week is devoted to the class of 1952, from Fairmont High School. Ihe first person to be discussed is CarrollLemaree, who recently bought the New York Giants, and challenged her sTsEerTtorrlne Demaree, who owns the New York Yankees, to an exhibition game. It was the longest game on record and ran 52 innings with many of the players collapsing of exhaustion. Final score 0-0. Gene Nichols, former Governor of Nebraska, successfully ran for Senator on boih tickets and was elected unanimously. He is known as a Demopublican. In a public statement he said that much of his success was due to the un- tiring efforts of his secretary, Viola Ackerman. Norma Smltheram recently appeared at Carnegie Hall. Critics say she is a wonderful singer, and they foresee a long career for her. They also raved about her accompanist, one of the trained horses from Marshall Hill's famous Wild «Vest Shows which appears at Madison Round Garden annually. Bennie Pike is a smash hit in his newest Broadway production, Eskimo Love 3ongv' in which he made famous the 3ong, I Only Have Ice or You. Lois Ely is, for some reason, opening a branch office to her large Fairmont Orphanage in Mew York. Kids just love her. Pert Adams is head coach at Notre Dame where he perfected a nev; dazzl- ing sleeper play, for which, we must admit, his boys are well qualified. That daredevil, Allan Pollock, did it again last week. He jumped across the Hudson River on his motorcycle. He said he did it on a dare. Bill Jacobsen and Jean Arbuck are married and own the biggest ranch in Fillmore County. They also do car wrecking on the side. Jerry Dawson, the multi-millionaire General Uotorsman, announced his new invention ! Dawson's Dandy Little Whistling Valve Caps are to be sold nation-wide soon. Harry Bohling, while experimenting with some Hyper-sonic electronic apparatus, disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke. He was discovered six days later by a helicopter that happened to pass the cloud he was floating on. Remember, this program was brought to you by Quicker Oats, those deli- cious oats, made by Donna Q.uick and Company. Tune in next week for another fine program, Lineup of Famous People. CLASS HISTORY Yes, Johnny way back in 1940, thirteen of us started to the first grade, Miss Weber taught us to draw and build with blocks. iss Swanson ’.as our second and third grade teacher. I'll never forget the play we put on, Landing of the Pilgrims , and the big Christmas trees she used to buy. The fourth and fifth grades were the interesting years spent gazing at the relics in the old cabinet that were accumulated through the years by our teacher, Miss Jackson. We coasted through the two following years under Miss 3ussell. Then the year that will never leave us. Miss Sandall started to teach us in the eighth but left soon after the start of school. We then inherited the red- headed Miss Zeleny. Ihe grade basketball team missed a game that year be- cause of a vigorous eraser fight. In the fall of 48 twenty rowdy freshmen dropped their grade school hab- its in order to acquire high school ones. Bunk Hill gave a classical strip tease behind a sheet for Initation. Ihe remaining nineteen were dressed to suit the taste of the seniors. When we were booted out of the Freshmen section we became Sophomores but we were scattered ull over the assembly in order to cut down commotion. The Sophomore year was so ary that we unanimously decided to be Juniors the next year. The completion of the new gym gave our class the opportunity of putting on the first class play (Weak in the Knees) on the new stage and the Junior- Senior Banquet (Dude Ranch) and we had the first dance band (Gene Harding) in the history of F.H.S. We spent days hauling hay and putting up streamers. ‘Ve also bought our class rings that year. Our last year in these tranquil walls found us having our Senior pic- tures taken, (Bennie Pike went to the wrong studio to have his taken), and ordering graduation invitations (not valentines). Publishing the annual and our Sneak Day were both a howling success. At last we come to Baccalaureate and Commoncement after spending twelve long years behind the pencili Say Johnny you should be getting off to bed, you start to school tomor- row, remember.
