I Ifntrobuction % This book shall be known as the ‘ Fairmonticella;” so named in honor of the New School Building. “Celia” means “arch:” hence the name signifies Fair- mont’s “Arched” doors to broader education. The “Fairmonticella” is dedicated to these liberal and loyal backers of education—the people composing District Number Nineteen, Fillmore County, Nebraska. The standards of the work produced by the pupils and the spirit of the school to do something for their school prompted the publication of this book. This spirit to do something that might promote interest in our school was stimulated by the constant tapping of the hammers and grating of the trowels of the workmen on the new thirty-five thousand dollar high school building. The “Fairmonticella” should be a pleasure to every- one in the district, when the new building is as aged as the old one now is. If it brings back a flood of memories of the happiest days of every life, (School Days.) Then this book shall not have been made in vain. This pleasure will be increased by the fact that it is the work of pupils themselves, while in school. In behalf of the school let me thank Miss Jeannette Burlingame, Miss Bernice O’Kief and Mr. Yoder and the other teachers who gave such timely advice; also the ad- vertisers and purchasers who made this publication a financial possibility. The Fairmont High School, Bigger, Better, Forever! CHAS. R. WEEKS.
