Last minute preparations under watchful eyes of Miss Jenkins. The annual Junior Carnival was held on Novem- ber 17 from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. The evening was climaxed with the crowning of the carnival king and queen. A variety show was given in their honor. The Junior Executive Committee has the responsibility of putting on the annual Junior- Senior Prom. To raise money for this activ- ity they held a bake sale and the junior car- nival. The committee is made up of two repre- sentatives from each homeroom and the junior class officers. Class sponsors are Helen Good- win ond Frankie Babcock. Yearbook has centennial theme MAPLE LEAVES EDITOR Pictured at right in the midst of her many duties as editor-in- chief is talented BECKY ROSS. Besides supervising all depart- ments of the yearbook, she has planned the 1963 book to hove more pages and a beautiful pad- ded cover in honor of the state's centennial. Becky is a senior and has worked on Mople Leaves for two years. This past summer she was one of three girls who at- tended Ohio University at Ath- ens for a week's yearbook work- shop. Maple Leaves is the official yearbook of Fairmont Senior High School and has approx- imately 25 staff members. Students are se- lected by written application, sample writings, and a personal interview with Mrs. Irene S. Martin, faculty sponsor. Last year a change was made in the staff selection letting sopho- mores and seniors also work on the book. Be- fore that the yearbook was published by the juniors only. The staff is proud of the many honors won by Maple Leaves in recent years. For the past several years it has been awarded a FIRST PLACE RATING by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association at Columbia University. A highlight of the year, besides getting the yearbook, of course, is a dinner held for both old and new members usually the last part of May.
