The Coronation RED AND WHITE DAY News of our homecoming football skirmish with St. james brought about a flourish of true school spirit. First there was the traditional snake dance with participants Writhing their way through Fairmontis business district and ending up at Cheapskate Hilln. There we built a huge bonfire and burned the effigy of St. james, displaying our confidence in a victorious game. At 3:10 the next day we tore from the school buildingg and those of us not in the parade, thronged the streets with many adults and children to witness the big event. The bands stimulating tempo and high-stepping majorettes spurred everyone on excitedly. Our queen of the festivities, Lila Milbrandt, and King Tom Aasum, rode down the street on their royal float which was Wreathed with a gold crown. A picturesque array of floats followed in line. Music poured forth from the top-ranking chorus float which was decked with slogans proclaiming St. james, defeat. Floats from every class and club were color- fully and gaily decorated. Especially memorable were the Spanish, Latin, and science clubs' clever displays. The junior high groups showed originality in their bicycle brigade. Hard playing of the team and confidence and school spirit of the students brought about victory that night. Afterwards a gala throng filled the Youth Center with laughter, music, and merriment. King and Queen for a Day
