Paulus Voelzke Receives Nelson Award 8:15 P. M. May 24, 1948 That was the date! We were to grad- uate at last! As we sat stiflly side by side in our uniform caps and gowns, a certain tenseness fell over us. All around were the boys and girls we had known so long, grown up with, with whom we shared the same secrets and plans-and would share the problems before us. VVe were now embarking on a life -of our own, detached from too many of our old friendships. Quietly we listened to the commence- ment address, Citizens of One Worldn by Dr. Charles 1. Turckg then proudly we went forward to receive our diplo- mas. V We walked away, head high, hugging that coveted awardg there were lumps in our throats, and suddenly, we felt much older.
