Sociol studies depcirtment odds two courses to curriculum The social studies department was enlarged this year with the addition ot psychology and modern European cul- tures, both semester courses. Psychology dealt with the study ot human behavior. The popularity ot this course decreased sociology enrollments. ln Mr. Joe l'laven's modern European cultures class, the emphasis was on a better understanding ot the people and events shaping today's world. lnstead ot an exam, students turned in a semes- ter proiect. The civics classes studied the recent Presidential election along with the democratic government ot the United States. Sociology classes dealt with the problems ot everyday lite. American history classes studied the past events leading to the development ot the United States. The world history classes studied man's progress through the ages in building civilization. The consumer economics classes sur- veyed the economic system ot the United States.
