1972 track team produces winning season despite setbacks East's I972 track team, coached by Mr. Neal Charske and Mr. Dave Mills, produced a winning season. The team recorded tour wins and one loss despite many iniuries and weather conditions. The season was marked with two highlights. East overwhelmed West with a score ot 78lf2 to 48'f2. ln the WOL meet, Chris Gravel finished tirst in the two-mile race with a time ot 9:58.7, breaking all previous records tor the league. Falcon trackmen broke two school records this season. Steve Henry, Chris Gravel, Dave Helton, and Keith Bush improved the previous tour-mile relay record ot l9:I5.2 to the new record ot I8:5O.3. ln the sprint medley Nick Yahle, Dave Huston, Bob Metzler, and Brian Percival set a new record ot I:39.9. Bob Metzler received the most valua- ble runner award and Russ Compton received the most valuable tield man award. Most improved runner was Steve Henry and Jett Berger was the most improved tield man. East tinished titth in the WOL, only eight points tram second. The Falcons tinished eighth in the sectionals.
