Augusl 25 lo 7 A.lvl., Augusl 26, lhe squad ran conlinuously covering a lolal ol 233 miles, l,l58 yards, I lool, and 6 inches. This surpassed lhe old record ol 225 miles, 902 yards, which a Calilornian leam had sel. Each Falcon harrier, who evenlually covered approximalely 33.5 miles, ran a mile, lhen resled while his leammales each loolc lheir lurns. Falcons who par- licipaled in selling lhis nalional record were Chris Gravel, Tom Link, John Rey- nolds, Milne Fry, Sleve Roberls, Dale Hayes, and Dave l-lellon. On Seplember 2l, lhe Easl cross counlry leam ran wilh l4 olher leams in lheir ninlh annual Fairmonl Easl lnvi- lalional. The Falcons won lhis meel wilh a lolal score ol 68 poinls. Al lhis invi- lalional lhe reserves regislered a shul- oul over lheir opponenls lo assure lhem ol an easy lirsl-place linish. The Falcon varsily squad won lhe league lille wilh 66 poinls, lollowed by Cenlerville. Chris Gravel caplured lirsl place in lhis meel wilh a lime ol 9:53.7. Easl also came oul on lop al lhe sec- lional meel, where lhey won by l poinl. This year's cross counlry leam had an oulslanding season. The Falcons emerged viclorious in all six ol lheir dual meels, delealing bolh Belmonl and Fairmonl Wesl by one-poinl mar- gins. Fairmonl Easl experienced lhe high poinl ol lheir season when lhey won lhe WOL championship. The Falcon squad lhen qualilied lor lhe slale meel by winning lhe seclionals.
