New equipment enobles students to develop better stitching skills The addition ot WZO new Elna sew- ing machines greatly improved the clothing departments equipment, replacing the older Singer models. The new machines enabled the students to do amost any kind ot stitch to pertect protessional looking garments. Durabil- ity and serviceability were deciding tactors in the selection ot the machines. Highlighting child care classes were tield trips to Bergamo Center tor the retarded children, to Kettering Hospi- tal's maternity section, and to area ele- mentary schools, where the students observed kindergarten children. Guest speakers and tilms on the subiect ot child care also played important roles in the course. Home management students had the opportunity ot participating in a crash course in interior decorating. The stu- dents visited a local store's turnishings department tor a presentation on the art ot home decoration. More cirt sign-ups result in crowded classrooms F More ort sign-ups result in crowded clossroom Art classes had more sign-ups than there had been in recent years. As a result, classes were crowded. Art l, ll, and lll, consisted ot required projects. Art IV provided tor independent work. The art instructors, lvlrs. Ann Fahn- line, Mr. Don Reed, and lvlr. Jack Wemnter, assisted students with their projects, while teaching them tunda- mentals ot art. They also helped with decorations tor atter-school activities.
