IMPACT has saTisfied ThaT craving. ConTribuTions in prose, poeTry and drama have Transformed an idea mm a black-and-whiTe realiTy. Plans for publish- ing began lasT OcTober. One of The earliesT Tasks which had To be overcome was ThaT of coaxing The sTudenT body To submiT Their liTerary eFforTs To a hereTofore non- exisTenT magazine. This was done, in parT, by an appeal To Their aesTheTic values and, in parT, by an appeal To Their compeTiTive naTure. Submissions having beeh secured, IMPACT's energeTic sTafTE began The faTiguingly enioyable iob of sorTing, iudging and ediTing The conTribuTions. IT was surprising To receive The large num- ber of shorT sTories dealing wiTh nuclear warfare! EdiTing was finally compleTed in spiTe of a growing fear of aTomic annihilaTion, and The publicaTion wenT To press. The issue was well received buT, being anoTher new publicaTion open for change, The ediTors summed up Their feelings in a few words: JusT waiT iTilI nexT year when IMPACT will surpass iTself. 79

The magazine celebraTed The role of The women in The Three hundred year hisTory of New Jersey. The issue discussed The various roles Taken by The woman in The home, The arTs, religion, governmenT and poIiTics, business and The professions, and educaTion. The magazine will be exhibiTed as parT of The Morris CounTy celebraTion of The TercenTennial. The second issue of The UniversiTy Woman published dealT wiTh The Ills of Modern Woman . In This parTicular issue, several areas of devianT behavior were explored. The ills discussed were alcoholism, drug addicTion, murder, sex deviancy, and larceny. The issue focused on The ways in which women's roles in socieTy infTuence The naTure of Their criminal behavior, and The changes ThaT are occurring in women's crime as a resulT of changes in women's roles. This second issue was prepared by The sociology classes in Juvenile Delinquency and Crimi- nology in cooperaTion wiTh The regular sTudenT ediTors of UniversiTy Woman .
