Because of HS rapid developmenT, iT was expand- ed in 1948 To a four-year academic insTiTuTion. The PresidenT's goal is To mainTain The presenT level of enrollmenT and To conTinue advancing The academic sTandards of The UniversiTy. Thus, The emphasis is a qualiTaTive raTher Than a quanTiTaTive one. Dr. SammarTino sees The main Task of The adminisTraTion as one of conTinued sTriving for excellence in all aspecTs of universiTy life. Through his exTensive Travels and inTeresTs in inTernaTional affairs, Dr. Sammar- Tino has gained wide recogniTion abroad for himsehC and for The UniversiTy. This awareness of The viTal imporTance of mainTaining an inTernaTional ouTlook is ex- emplified by Fairleigh Dickinson's newly acquired graduaTe school in England and by special UniversiTy programs designed To reduce The cosTs and enrich The experi- ences of Travel abroad. Dr. Clarence Decker - Vice President Dr. Decker came To Fairleigh Dickinson UniversiTy afTer serving as PresidenT of The UniversiTy of Kansas CiTy. As Vice-PresidenT of our University, he has been responsible for The acquisiTion of sTafT and faculTy members of naTionally recognized eminence. FurTher, wiTh his assistance Two granTs were awarded To Fair- leigh Dickinson UniversiTy from The Ford FoundaTion. As culTural supervisor of The UniversiTy, Dr. Decker is in charge of The conTinuing search for new courses Dr. Clarence R. Decker and programs To be added To The presenT academic sTrucTure of The UniversiTy. In his capaciTy as Vice- PresidenT, he has Traveled all over The counTry and has sTudied The programs of many public and privaTe schools. As a resulT of his invesTigaTions and his desire To conTinue The culTural growTh of The UniversiTy, Dr. Decker has esTablished as one of his chieic goals The creaTing of a cenTer of humanisTic sTudies in The Col- lege of Liberal ArTs. Dr. Drake became ProvosT of Fairleigh Dickinson UniversiTy afTer serving as Chancellor aT The UniversiTy of Kansas CiTy.
