In The Fall of IasT year, The Club sponsored The program of sTudenT-direcTed and sTudenT-wriTTen one-acT plays. OTher acTiviTies of The Club are designed To develop The drama sTudenTs' appreciaTion of The TheaTre; This is achieved Through lecTures, TheaTre parTies, publicaTions and improvisaTion. By attending regular meetings, each member has The opportunity to discuss and debate with other members on various contemporary scientific issues. As a result of informal, although educaTional meetings, many problems that the chemistry maior may encounter have a chance to be corrected--or at least analyzed. Although The Club doesn't have a formal-Type organizational structure, The members are well aware that chess is becoming increasingly popular with college students and are willing and waiting for a challenge from some other school. But, in The meantime, they will have to settle for outwitting each other and any other chess enthusiast. 65

The Club's obiecTives are To serve The UniversiTy, To provide career guidance, To encourage leadership qualiTies in young women, and To promoTe fellowship and.beTTer undersTanding among all The peoples of The world. A drive for membership Took place early in The year. Membership was based on ouTsTanding characTer, personaliTy, ciTizenship, scholar- ship and leadership.
