In addiTion To serving as guides and ushers aT The various func- Tions held on campus for high schools and visiTing guesTs, Alpha Phi members opened a used booksTore. WiThouT any doubT, The highlighT of The year was The annual ski Trip, which is sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega. On occasion, a professional visiTs The Club and gives his views on The same Topics; his advanTage is, of course, experience. On occasion, The Club will underTake To handle The adverTising of a campus acTiviTy, Thus giving iTs members some pracTical, alThough somewhaT limiTed, experience. American Chemical Society Members of This organization do not have To limit their interest in science solely To individual work in The laboratory. By attending regular meetings, each member has The opportunity to discuss and debate with other members on various contemporary scientific issues. As a result of informal, although educaTional meetings, many problems that the chemistry maior may encounter have a chance to be corrected--or at least analyzed. The members of This Club are always looking for an opponent; The only requirement is that The person enjoys The game and has a few hours To spare. Many an afternoon is spenT in The Mansion booths by The members. Although The Club doesn't have a formal-Type organizational structure, The members are well aware that chess is becoming increasingly popular with college students and are willing and waiting for a challenge from some other school. But, in The meantime, they will have to settle for outwitting each other and any other chess enthusiast. 65
