S. 13-FOLEY 0 Offensive Fairhope and defensive Foley bat- tled for the right to the County Title. D. Stapleton raced around end for the first TD. Again it was Stapleton, this time dashing 65 yards. There was no doubt in any one's mind that the Pirates were out-playing Foley even though they were stated to be the underdogs. F. H. S. 37-R. H. S. O D. Stapleton crossed the Bears' goal 5 times and Vollcing once. This ended F,H.S.'s Football program and it also ended one of the best seas- ons ever enjoyed by a Fairhape team. These boys won not only the County Championship, but a place along side the best of Pirate Elevens. However, their determination to win and to cooperate with their coach and team mates turned them into a fighting band of Pirates, who won 8 games, lost one and tied one. The highlights were a 7-O win over UMS and a I4-O win over Atmore. This was the first time in the school's history that they had beaten Atmore. They also copped the county championship. The Basketball team, not to be out done by last year's State Tournament team, won their second consecutive county championship, won I8 games, lost 7 and again went to the State Tournament. The baseball team, in a rebuilding program, failed to win a game, but valuable experience was gained by a predominantly sophomore team, If numbers have anything to do with winning, '53 will be the year. They scored 3 runs in every game they played. The tennis team showing steady improvement, played only two matches, losing them both by 5-4 scores. It was twelve long years of struggle Twelve years of squabble and bliss But inspite of all our troubles lt's Twelve years we wouldn't want to miss. There's nothing like the first grade We were all so bashful and shy Miss Harrison didn't have much trouble We were all to eager to try. Miss Bush in the second grade She was sweet as she could be Until we pulled some childish prank Then she turned us 'cross her knee. One teacher sometimes seems' too much In grades through one and two In third we had six no less It was bad l'm telling you. There's not much about the fourth grade We all did pretty fine Mrs. Baker taught us howto sing She knew how to keep us in line. The fifth grade was a iolly year And Oh! the fun we had Miss Rogers was our teacher And we drove her almost mad We were really getting older We were in the sixth grade now Our school room was the Masonic Hall We learned, but l wonder how. Well summer had gone once more The seventh grade came at last Soon we'd be in high school Our school years were going fast. Now the eighth grade was a year to remember All the memories in our hearts we hold dear And of all the little troubles we had lt was still a wonderful year. At last our first year of high school And everyone with girls and beaux We learned our Alma Mater And our love for our old school grows. . ' r .., ,. In the tenth grade, we really had a time We laughed and played and fussed Never worried about a thing Till Mrs. Avary got a hold of us Eleventh grade, with one more year of school How sad is the thought to me We've had such good times together The Prom, the picnic and our Christmas tree But our twelfth grade is our happiest year We've gone as far as we can go We've iust spent twelve happy years The happiest we'll ever know. So, to Mr. and Mrs. Bennett And all the faculty too We'd like to say with all our hearts There's not a nicer bunch than you. senior director HELEN ANACKER Broadcaster Staff 51 52 Cafetersa Asssstant 50 52 PATSY CALENDINE Beta Club 1949 52 Treas 50 51 51 52 Asso Ed Bay Breeze 51 52 D A R Good Cstszenshsp Gsrl 52 Bus Mgr Sensor Play Lsbrary Asssstant 50 52 Valedsctorsan SHIRLEY COPAS Beta Club 49 52 F HA4852 Sec 5152 Pub Mgr Broadcaster 51 52 Tscket Sales Sensor Play Subscrsptson Staff Bay Breeze 2 WILLINESE COTTEN F H A 50 51 Beta Club 51 52 Actsvstses Edstor Bay Breeze Sensor Play GEORGIA CREAMER Beta Club 50 52 Subscrsptson Staff Bay Breeze Pub Staff Broadcaster BERNICE DALTON F H A 51 52 Broadcaster Staff 51 52 Homecomsng Parade Commsttee 5 Comm MARY DAVIS Pressdent of Class 49 50 51 Spanssh Club 49 52 Student Councsl Rep 49 52 Whos Who 50 51 52 Gosssp Ed Broadcaster 51 52 Subsc Staff and Adv Staff Bay Breeze 51 52 Prompter Sensor Play Cheer Leader 50 52 FRANCES DAVISON F I-I A Song Leader 50 51 Stylus Club 51 52 Pub Staff and Adv Staff Broadcaster 51 52 Pub Staff Bay Breeze 51 52 CAROLYN DYESS F H A 48 49 Band 50 51 Spanssh Club 50 52 Scsence Club 50 52 Beta Club 51 52 Adv Staff Broadcaster Subsc Staff Bay Breeze Sensor Play ROBERTA GABEL MARIE GREGOR Beta Club 48 52 Socsal Chasrman 51 52 Socsal Chasrman Sensor Class 51 52 Gosssp Ed Broadcaster 51 52 Home Comsng Commsttee Sparsssh Club 49 51 Prompter Sensor Play Pub Staff Bay Breeze BETTY GRIMES Scsence Club 49 52 F H A 49 51 Speech Contest 50 51 Who s Who 51 52 DONESE HARD Chosr 50 52 F H A 50 52 Otfsce Asssstant 51 52 EDITH HERRING Band 50 52 F H A 50 52 Azalea Queen 52 Sensor Play MARY HORNE Spanssh Club 50 51 Class Treasurer 50 51 Snack Shop Commsttee 50 51 Class News Edstor Broadcaster 51 52 Adv Mgr Bay Breeze 51 52 Beta Club 51 52 Chosr 51 52 VIRGINIA LANDES F H A 48 52 Chosr 50 52 Cheerleader 51 52 MARY ANN McKIBBON Beta Club 48 52 Corr Sec y 50 52 F H A 48 50 Class Secretary 49 52 Glee Club 49 50 51 S I Play 49 50 Offsce Asssstant 50 52 Lsbrary Asssstant 50 52 Azalea Court 51 Bus Mgr Broadcaster 5152 Adv Stall and Kodak Ed Boy Breeze 51 52 Maud Homecomsng 51 Whos Who 52 GRACE MORRIS F H A 49 52 Secretary 50 51 Scsence Club 49 52 Secretary 51 52 Stylus Club Secretary 51 52 Beta Club 51 52 Adv Staff and Pub Staff Broadcaster 51 52 Pub Staff Bay Breeze 51 52 F H A 48 52 VICE pres 51 52 MURIEL MCKENZIE Beta Club 49 52 Program Chasrman 51 52 F H A 50 51 Stylus Club 51 52 Beta Club 50 5?
