We spent the first day touring the L.B.J. Library and visiting several fascinating museums. After a good hot dinner, and fun in a near-by park, we bedded down at the local Y.M.C.A. The next day was the highlight of the trip A a special tour through the Texas capitol. We observed both houses of Congress in session. Afterwards, a private meeting was arranged for us to speak personally with Senator Dee Travis. We were certainly given the royal treatment. A visit to Sea-arama, the historic district of Galveston, and the Gulf of Mexico to go wading were also part of the fun. Bowling, riding go-karts, riding a ferry across Port Bolivar, and eating at Gaidos Restaurant rounded out their trip. This three day trip was full of fun as well as education. The activities went on as planned, and many awards were earned. Mitch Jones caught the first fish, and Scott Hudson and Chris Sharp were champion kite fliers. The campfire and sing-along were a perfect way to end a very special weekend. Fairhill campers enjoyed two week-long camping trips at Eisenhower State Park. This allowed plenty of time for swimming, fishing and hiking. The highlight of our week was a special trip to Turner Falls. This day spent in Oklahoma was filled with rock climbing, water slides, exploring, and lots of swimming. We all looked forward to our fried chicken picnic at the end of the day. The summer ended with many new friends, good ex- periences, and special memories for everyone. r Did you say sharks? We arrived in San Antonio in time for a delicious Mexican meal at the popular Mi Tierra Cafe and Bakery. lndian culture was very interesting. Do you think that suit will lit me? Students see many different things at the Institute of Texas Culture. The second day of the trip began bright and early with a 5:30 wake up rousing us from our comfortable accomodations on the YMCA floor. Our day of sightseeing included a tour of the Institute of Texan Cultures, the Alamo, and the Hall of Horns at the Lone Star Brewery. We ended our day with an even- ing cruise down the San Antonio River. Everyone enjoyed the trip immensely and are look- ing forward to another one next year. Will you be my freind?
